Layer1 seems way more easy than layer2.
But as always, the more risk you take the more you may earn (or loose)

Indeed, layer 1 is a lot simpler, more stable, more dependable, and more reliable. It's true, the potentials for growth in layer 2 are greater, but it is also quite a bit riskier given that most layer-2 projects are run my only one individual, which is a huge point of failure.
