Welcome to my 99th Sunday Weekly Hive Goals and Progress Update! This was another pretty good week of growth, with all three weekly goals being reached and surpassed again. With the recent notable instability of many layer-2 projects, I'm finding it necessary to shift my investment focus somewhat, giving more attention to the far-more-dependable layer-1 investments of Hive Power and HBD in Savings, and less focus on layer-2 projects, which due to the fact that most are run by a single individual, are inherently less dependable and reliable over the long term. I will of course still invest in layer-2 projects, but I'm going to be a lot more discerning, and with a new set of criteria, when I do.

This update is mostly being written on Monday morning, April 22, so a day later than usual. I finished catching up on my Hive notifications too late last night to write this post, so I opted instead to go to sleep and and do it in the morning. Not ideal, but that's how it flowed. All three weekly goals were surpassed by last night, so it won't be far off in terms of numbers.

This week I gained +35.52 HP, +0.05 Reputation, and +1.586 HBD in Savings, which means that I exceeded my HP goal by +3.835 HP, my Reputation goal by +0.03 Reputation, and my goal of HBD in Savings by +0.299 HBD. This is not bad at all, with the greatest surprise being how much my Reputation jumped!

My HiveBuzz Reputation ranking (which is the default view) jumped by +17 places this week, with my HP ranking leaping +16 places, and my ranking for HBD in Savings sadly going down by -1 place. It's marvelous to see my ranking for HP and Reputation both rising so well this past week. My ranking for HBD in Savings is such an oddball, very often going down, even though my HBD balance in Savings continues to rise.

As I mentioned last week, all delegation assets have been removed from the DHEDGE project's curation accounts, as the project appears to be abandoned and dead. This week I looked into why @pgm-curator stopped sending delegation payouts, and I learned, much to my chagrin, that the project is being sold. With that being the case, I removed my HP delegation, which I'll redelegate to another as-yet undecided community curation account.

With these and other recent unpleasant experiences, and so many layer-2 projects struggling, failing, or being abandoned, I've had to take a more serious look at the projects in which I choose to involve myself. This catalyzed me to create a new set of criteria to follow when choosing new layer-2 projects for investment. Basically, I'm going to be a heck of a lot more picky! Single individual running projects is a huge point of failure, because if they happen to disappear, their projects abruptly and unceremoniously stop dead in their tracks, leaving us holding massively devalued assets, which is not so great at all.

Success with layer-2 investments requires near constant adaptation, adjustments, reorganization, and reallocation, as layer-2 projects are inherently often a lot more unstable, undependable, and unreliable. Because of this, I'm beginning to put more focus on the more-dependable-and-reliable layer-1 investments, with far more discernment around investments in layer-2.

This coming week I will hopefully reach and surpass 6,700 HP, which is another milestone on my Hive journey to orca and whale levels. I'll also be claiming 4+ HBD in Savings interest in 5 days, so that's been taken into account for my new weekly goals. While it's great that my Reputation rose so much this past week, it's a bit too unpredictable to shoot for that level of growth again, so I'll be slightly more conservative with that goal. Here we go, on to my new goals for this week!
