My Actifit RC: August 9th August 23 - Improvised sightseeing tour in the historic center of Naples. - IAAC 428

A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.

Arrived at the station of Via Toledo we are ready to find out what the weather holds for the day of August 9, 2023.

From the monumental structures of Largo Berlinguer you can see a clear sky illuminated by powerful sun rays that warm and illuminate the Neapolitan summer.

So far we have seen only places of Catholic Christian worship but, in Naples, there are ecclesiastical buildings of other religions. Here in the picture we have the church and brotherhood of Saint Peter and Paul of Greek Orthodox origin.

It is a small structure but with a beautiful portal that had its splendor with the arrival of refugees from the Peloponnese after the conquest of their territories by the Turks in 1500.

After this visit in Greek Albanian territory I set off on a road that I had never traveled and I popped up on a large street where on the corner there was this wonderful monumental palace.

Basically I ended up in via Medina street that leads from piazza Municipio to the junction for via Toledo where there is this huge yellow building in the center that is the Carafa palace of Nocera that, unfortunately, did not benefit from a suitable light for a photo shoot.

In the shadow of the evening and in the darkness of the terrible disasters suffered there is the church of "San Diego all'ospedaletto" badly damaged by the earthquake of 1784 and the Second World War.

This elegant monumental street at the end of Medina Street is now called Cardinal Guglielmo Sanfelice Street where I headed and I stopped at the height of that wonderful pink palace with very refined decorated balconies.

Entering this dark and narrow alley that passes under a yellow tuff arch I found myself in Piazza Santa Maria la Nova.

Here there is the wonderful church museum of the same name with beautiful piperno staircases. It was closed in the late evening because it is open only from the morning until a few hours after lunch.

Taking the alley that led me to the majestic and elegantly imposing bell tower of the basilica of Santa Chiara I sought shelter from the heat that had accumulated throughout the day between the naves of the immense basilica that was once the flagship of the city of Naples.

Of this wonderful monument we keep a few sculptures and some paintings if not a few pieces of Giotto’s frescoes.

After my quick visit I started the maneuver to return home and after taking the beautiful square of Jesus with the spire of the Immaculate Conception that stood majestically among the colorful historic buildings.

This time, instead of passing through Piazza Monteoliveto I turned right to Piazza Sant'Anna dei Lombardi and slowly I arrived at the last stop of my magnificent tour in the historic center.

In fact, on Piazza Dante, the last rays of the sun, now destined for sunset, began to fall and every day it is arriving more and more early.

And now, however, the time has come to celebrate my #iamalivechallenge 428 even today I’m always #alive and like all these days for a couple of years to come.
