Cannabis Price Check : What Are You Paying?

The price of cannabis has been slowing getting cheaper since legalization in Canada.

This has changed certain things about the way we smoke, let's take a moment to reflect on the price of cannabis.

A website I used to visit about 10 years ago on a regular basis was https://www.priceofweed.com to see what others were paying in the area near me. It was a simple blind survey so I trusted tge average price on that site.

Now it's so easy to find cannabis and so competitive, things are changing on local levels faster than the old tracking techniques can keep up with.

Prices in Western Canada

Quoted prices in CAD

Average prices here in Western Canada range all the way from $2.50-15/g based on the source. The quality will change drastically between the $3-5/g price range. All this before tax obviously because that varies drastically between province.

I am honestly surprised that even the fallout from the 2020 economic lockdowns didn't seem to slow the price reduction of cannabis. Before legalization the average price per gram was around $7-10/g, now that average is well under $5/g CAD.

The above image is of cannabis in the middle of that $3-5/g CAD range , where price meets quality.

I think going with the flow, for now, is better than before

Last weed I bought outside of a store was some green house grown wedding cake at 80$ an oz. The cost of premium grade indoor I would say maybe 100-200. At the stores its ridiculous, maybe 225-400 depending on what, and where.

Yeah I won't even go to the stores here. I just treat it like a private wine maker and enjoy the quality you get when you don't pussy foot around the David and Goliath thing going on with the ex RCMP officers all owning the dispensaries...

Yeah I really appreciate a good small production wine, but I don’t mind forking over a little extra cash for that. Before Covid it was so fun taking a drive down the rd and seeing a mom and pop open up for tastings, since they make a few hundred bottles a year. Damn those here they days

lol that conversation actually started this post and the person i made it to troll wont be reading it I 100% bet you lol. Its kind of funny when small craft growers assert the quality of their product and then immediately follow up with a home run sales pitch during a pandemic lol
