THE DAY I WENT AGAINST THE LAW

(Edited)

Going against the law can be sweet atimes, don't get me wrong here, it's not good to go against the law, but sometimes for the adventure of it we may just want to see what happens when we tweak the laws a little, and sometimes have fun playing with some light rules. Especially in highschool where teenagers can do things out of curiosity. I remember one time when my mum looked me in the eye saying "You deliberately disobeyed me." The feeling however was mutual, as I wasn't feeling guilty for what I did because of a truth I deliberately disobeyed her just to see how it felt going against the law.

Although I wasn't as mischievous as kids who went against laws consistently, I was always careful about the laws I broke, and most times I went for only the light ones except on two occasions when I decided to know how it feels like to scale the schools fence with my friends, and travel without my parents permission. Both of these times were very scary for me seeing I had received strict instructions about going out not to talk of traveling, and we have been warned in school about coming out after lights out. I went scout free on both occasions, but also told myself I had broken the rules enough, and would never want to try it again.

THE FIRST TIME I WENT AGAINST THE LAW

I was in highschool, and my friends were usually going outside the hostel at night. One day out of curiosity I asked them where they usually go on Friday nights, and they said they were just going to hangout at a club. I hadn't been to an actual club prior to that time, so I decided I would hang out with them next time they were going. By the next Friday I went out with them, and we went to hangout with some of our friends who were no longer in school. We called ourselves rebels that day seeing we all escaped from school to meet up at a club house. We needed to return before 5:00 when the house master would have been up for his morning patrol but returning was the scary part.

I ensured I was careful so I did not get into any trouble outside school unlike some of my friends who cared less about being caught, they were already known for their mischievousness and didn't care what anyone thought about it. One even drank to stupor and was misbehaving afterwards, we had to take turns in helping him out. But while coming, we decided to trek some distance since we were in a group and there was no cab available. We weren't the only ones trekking that day, there were others who obviously seemed like they were coming from a club too. But then tragedy struck when a drunk driver ran over someone directly behind me. Like if I had taken two steps back it would have been me. What's worse is that the person died instantly, and we were all full with fear but glad it wasn't any of us.

We ran a distance out of fear and saw a bus going our way. We didn't even think twice to enter as we were both scared and trying to reach school before the house master woke up, only to discover the bus we entered was carrying people who looked like robbers. The five of us just sat quietly thinking of a way to get off the bus, until we got to a junction 10 minutes walk away from school and decided to come down. The way we ran to school that day wasn't funny, as I was just praying we get to school safely and promising myself never to embark on such an adventure ever again.

THE TIME I TRAVELED WITHOUT PERMISSION

It was during my A-level days, my parents just returned from Dubai and needed the family together as we haven't been together in a while, but I had been in school all through their stay and was craving a place away from home. Luckily a family friend of mine was planning the same thing, so we lied that we were going for you to a church program that will last 3 days. Instead we took a night bus to Abuja, it was my first time going to Abuja and taking a night bus. After the three days we lied again (I can't even remember the second lie) and took another night bus (night buses were cheaper) to Port Harcourt to see my friend's girlfriend. To date my parents do not have the slightest idea what I did, but these were times I directly broke a law.

Your first story is insane... Imagine escaping an accident only to end up in the bus full of robbers😂😂😂
There's one adrenaline that comes from breaking rules and pushing limits that can be addictive. Good a thing you curved it early on. Some people don't and really get addicted.
They break rules not because they want to, but because they can. Regardless of the consequences.

Bro!!!
You are a legend, I also attended boarding school and I know how mischievous boarding school student can be but going outside the school premises to a club can only be done by legends😂 because a lot could wrong, for instance you could get caught in the process or meet a familiar face in the club and the moment one of you is caught the entire group is implicated. The worst part is if you were caught the hostel master or the school management will transfer that aggression on everyone living in the hostel.

I guess your parents did not have your pastor number, you can't try this with my parents oo, they are the perfect example of monitoring spirit. Traveling for a whole 3 days, wow.

😂 That was why I was very scared when things started going south. I began to imagine my life if I got caught

I think it is just natural for a young individual to break one or two rules growing up. I feel it is a part of what will shape a man to an extent. But I know things like sneaking out at night can be dangerous too, or travelling without permission - I don't ever do that at all.😅

One bad thing about lying is that you need a couple of other lies to back it up, and that is a chain of lies already!
