Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 181
Hey there my Hive friends and followers!
Welcome to the 181st round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)
I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.
The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.
The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)
Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.
I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:
Only one entry (photo) per person per round.
The photo must be yours and not older than one week.
Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.
You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.
Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.
I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)
To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:
It has only been a few days since we returned from the exquisite Portuguese island of Madeira so I´m happy to use a picture from there in this round of the photo challenge. When in Funchal, the capital city of the island, we also visited the Monte Palace Tropical Garden, an amazing natural place literally brimming with all kinds of beautiful trees and flowers. This is how lush and vigorous the blue hydrangeas get in there :) I cannot wait to write a post that will be dedicated to Monte Palace exclusively. Hopefully soon...
In the last round, we had 10 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:
@betterthanhome with this entry from Australia:
Great to see that you´re still doing this photo contest. Since I´m back from my Hive break and my trip up North Australia I will participate more often. Just one week ago we parked out car at one of the most beautiful lookouts I´ve ever seen. The photo can hardly describe how beautiful it was. Photo was taken from Milla-Milla Lookout in the Mount-Hypipamee National Park.
@stayoutoftherz with this entry from Austria:
Hi! I took this pic today at an excursion in a national park in Upper Austria, a kind of teaser, more to come in my blog :) I find it remarkable how this guy (probably a Rana dalmatina) blends in perfectly in his surrounding.
@littlebee4 with this entry from Ireland:
Today I want to share what I saw at the end of our walk today… The clouds were just awesome. We walked the Shannon blue way in Ireland. A path/ trail along the canal… towards Leitrim village. A few counties over. First part was over a boardwalk over a lake. Then we walked over a gravel path… all the way until we reached a lock. It was around 4km one way, we turned around and walked back… but I believe this walkway goes on and on. Will check how long it actually is when I post the entire walk one day soon. Enjoy my view in the moment we reached the board walk again on the way back to the car and I turned and saw the sky… It was 17:00 h.
Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)
I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.
Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!
I post this series in the Amazing Nature community, a great community for all nature lovers. Feel free to check it out ;)

Thanks for your support!
Thanks so much! That frog is now part of this post!
My pleasure, it was a great shot! Ok let me see :)
@phortun Great photos my friend.
Thanks for checking them out, kudos to the winners :)
Congratulations to the winners!
Indeed! Great round, many cool entries again. Thanks for checking them out Nina :)
Nice flower close up, thank you! :)
I don't think there is anyone on earth who does not appreciate nature. Nature is very beautiful and wonderful. You have picked the best selections. Kudos!!!
I agree with you but some does not take a photo of appreciation, maybe they are just busy of many things
I wish you were right my friend but you are obviously not. Yes, there are many people on Earth who do love nature and thus try to respect it and protect it but unfortunately, there are also many of those don´t care about nature at all and only care about their profit. Just google out how many animal and plant species people have driven to extinction, how many forests we cut down, how many lakes and rivers we poisoned etc. etc. It´ actually heartbreaking.
Hmm
Your point is valid
You always appreciate nature and that is great
I do and I try to motivate others to do that as well :) Thanks for stopping by.
You’re welcome ☺️
Many many congratulations to the winners.
Thanks for checking out the winning entries!
Most welcome.
Very beautiful photos. Nature always inspired us to do something different.
Nature is inspiring indeed. Thanks for swinging by.
I have a small space at my backyard where I planted this Okra using a cement bag. Luckily it germinated and has started producing fruits.
I like this specie of Okra because it has a bit of salty taste and I do not experience stomach upset when I eat it unlike the other types.
Also it grows for long before it dies off especially if it is on a good soil. But another side to it is that it you don't pick the fruits, it ceases to produce new ones for sometime.
I hope you like it.
Location: Abia, Nigeria
I picked them on Monday after garden work and prepared soup.
Here's my entry
Thank you
Thank you but please follow the rules. Your entry needs to be submitted here in the comment as well and you didn´t tell us where (location) and when you took the picture. Feel free to add the required info here and upload to picture here too.
Alright.
Done.
Thank you
Congratulations to the winners
Thanks for checking out the winning collection and feel free to join us in the new round :)
I will. Thank you.
Congrats to all the winners! Here's my entry. As I was hiking near Balantian, Valencia, Philippines this week, this beautiful butterfly was trying to camouflage itself with dead fern leaves on the ground. In fact, there were many of them and this one catches my attention because of its special size; as big as my palm.
Wow! Look at this magnificent creature! Fantastic picture, thank you :)
Great nature shots in this post again! Congrats to the winners!
Today I made a walk along the edge of the forest and a corn field. There was a strip in between where loads of wild flowers were growing. There were also a lot of crickets, butterflies, bees and dragonflies. I took some nice macro shots as well. A post will follow later this week.
A beautiful and quiet place.
Location: The Netherlands
So back home from travels already? Glad that you made it safely :) Thanks for this nice entry my friend!
Yeah, we came home two weeks ago already.
I see you already came home from Madeira as well. Did you enjoy your honeymoon?
Well, it was very short but we did, yes :) Thanks for asking.
Congratulations, your post has been upvoted by @dsc-r2cornell, which is the curating account for @R2cornell's Discord Community.
Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 181
Hello 🌻
Last night I had time for a brisk walk. And that means I leave the house and walk along the road that leads through the fields of Banat.... Corn is sown behind the house and I can't see the sunset.... But a little further is a field of sunflowers and I walked there.... The field was not yellow, because the flowering had already passed, there was still some flower left... I combined that with the sunset...
My favorite flowers and time of day🥰
Good to see you here again Suzana, thanks for sharing this lovely entry with us :)
My pleasure @phortun 🥰🌸
Clouds are also nature. Házmburk castle ruins, near Budyn, northern Bohemia, Ústí nad Labem region. Just seven days ago.
Thanks for your entry.
Here's my entry this week. The whole week we were visiting Romania and some mountain cities.
On Thursday we took the telecabin from Sinaia and went high to the Bucegi Mountains, we walked around a little and admired the view. Here's a photo taken at Cota 1400 Sinaia. This is how this place is called where the sky meets the green. I love this landscape a lot! 💚💚
One of my fav photo taken three days ago.
Oh wow, that´s a beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing this precious moment with us :) Enjoy your vacation!
Glad you liked it 😋.
Thank you! I hope all three of you are fine. I guess its not taking any longer until you guys will embrace your baby arriving on this world! ❤️❤️
Thank you :) Yeah, we are alright, thanks for asking.

Amazing photography done by you dear, I never seen this type of photography
Thanks but just the first one is mine, the others are the winning shots from the last round. It´s all mentioned in the post...
When it rains and simultaneously the sun shines, is really nice. It enhances the beauty of the landscape. The photo was taken during a rain in the sunset, and the sun was shining, in spite of the clouds and the mist in the sky. If you observe with detail the images, you can see the raindrops. The photo was taken in Caracas, last week.

Wow! What an impressive scenery. Thanks for this great entry, I will check out the post too ;)
Awesome 😎 thank you so much for the feature and support of my photo from last week @phortun
Today I show you what we saw Friday exploring Galway in Ireland and doing some chores.
They made recently a new footpath and resurfaced a walk along the river… and they planted some large flower borders and covered them with wild flowers 🌸 to attract the bees 🐝 🐝 and other insects 🐞 🪲🐛🦋 so beautiful…
It is located next to a large bridge going towards the cathedral.
The colours of the flowers and the amount they managed to get in. Love it.
More towns and cities should do this.
Hope you will enjoy the flowers 🌸
Have a great new week all 👋🏻😊
My pleasure! It was a great shot and I thank you for sharing another nice entry from Ireland with us :) Btw our fellow Hiver @ablaze is from Galway :)
Thanks a lot 😎
Happy to share some beautiful finds around here.
Yep I know he is from around there, have been talking for a while with him 😉 we will meet up one day.
Have a great Monday 👋🏻😊
Awesome :) Have a nice day too!
Thank you 😊
Lovely photo from Funchal and some great entries.
Congratulations to the winners.
Thanks for checking them out :)
Congrats to the winners!
Hi @phortun mate
I went to the sea last weekend to cool off as it was too hot as well as in Europe. The sea is part of Black Sea and it is in Istanbul. It is demanded much by Istanbulians during the summer.
Hey buddy, thanks for your entry. The place looks nice! So you guys from Istanbul can choose between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea where to go for a swim, that´s cool :D
Not Mediterranean, but Marmara Sea and Black Sea :)
Looking at the map now - you are right :D
Thank you. I just shared a post about my daily sea trip!
¡Greetings! After your invitation it became really difficult for me to pick just one photo for my entry to this contest. The winner was this because I feel very representative, it represents me, because one of the characteristics of my personality is tranquility (at least they tell me), and also what it was that day for me. A day of peace after much work. I look forward to returning to that place 💌
Hey there! Good to see you finding your way to this challenge :) It´s your first entry so let me give you some feedback. Next time, please make sure to also tell us where (location) and when (to make sure the photo is not older than 7 days) you took the picture. You look beautiful in the photo but this contest is mainly about appreciating nature so people usually share photos of nature only (without people) here but it´s up to you of course ;) Any entry with something natural in it counts...
I think it’s very good, it invites us to appreciate what is around us. Thank you very much for clarifying the rules, soon I will be back 😊
Awesome :) I just posted the new round, you are more than welcome to join us again :)
Congratulations to all the winners and participants, they are amazing photographs.
