LOH 233 // A TRAIT I ADMIRE

I will go straight to the point and say that expressiveness is one quality that I have always admired in a lot of people but which I lack and have somehow found hard to make a part of me.

I like it when I see a person who can talk so freely and very boldly, whether in a small or large gathering. Growing up, I was very engrossed and so used to being by myself and doing more thinking than talking that I didn't realize that I wasn't building my communication skills properly. I may have forgotten that listening and speaking go hand-in-hand.

I would be in a group, even just in a small circle of friends and/or family, and I'd not say a word. It didn't matter if I had had something to say or I was called upon to say something. I'd decline. In classes and meetings, I listened more. I pass for a good listener. Oftentimes, I knew just what to say, I had the right solutions and necessary notes/answers, but anxiety never let me. I just kept shut and let others run it all. It sure did help that those around knew how good my opinions are if I did say something.

Living that way, it was hard to share my troubles and disagreements. I'd rather than things slid or that the opposite party felt like they had the upper hand. A number of times, it hurt. Because I don't raise my voice or argue and can be frugal with my words, I couldn't communicate as I ought to.

It was not until a few years ago that I began to groom myself to take up speaking. I fumble, sometimes. Other times, I like the outcome. Some other tines, I wish I hadn't said anything(just because I have this weird liking for sucking up). Yet, at that, I still remind myself that every chance I get why I want to be better expressive and how much better it'd make things for me. Just that!

Thanks for gracing this post.
Greetings!

I often find that those who cannot express themselves verbally will express themselves much better by writing.

Being not able express oneself fully iften hides our potential and snatches several opportunities that might come to our way.

Grooming oneslef for better speech is a long journey including multiple steps. Overcoming anxiety and enriching our lexicons is crucial.

Wishing you good luck
