#BeerSaturday 342 - Hazy Winter Nights

342 weeks and the party is still going strong! Who knew beer would be so popular globally and the world would meet on Hive to enjoy it together?

Being The Blockchain Beerologist definitely has its perks, including but not limited to getting paid to tour breweries and sample new beers! When I am not globetrotting and chugging pints, my fridge looks like a colorful mosaic of regional craft beer I enjoy sharing with the #beersaturday alliance of #beer bloggers on #hive.

This week, I am sampling something old yet new from a solid regional brewery.

Pint o' the Week

The Pint of the Week this edition is a delicious part of a midweek Indian lunch! While the chana masala, naan bread and veggie tikka take front and center stage in this shot, you can see it photobombing on the right hand side. For me, I love Indian food so much, especially at Raja Fine Indian, that the beer doesn't much matter as long as it is cold and fresh. It can be a light refreshing lager to temper the spice or a strong IPA to compete with the intense flavour. In this case, it is a nice amber that washed this great lunch down nicely.

Hazy Days & Nights?

It has been a while since I have featured one of my recent favourite beers from a solid regional brewery Cowbell Brewing They have changed ownership in the last couple years and have redone their website so long-time readers might want to visit again. I grab a couple of these every so often because they are a nice flavorful hazy IPA and regularly available in the fridge section of the store. Looking closer though, perhaps this is not the same beer?

Here is what it looked like in the summer when I enjoyed it on the golf course but there are differences in the label 6 months later. Similar design with slightly different colours for sure but what else? Hazy Nights too? Wonder what the deal is!

Apparently there is a difference and Hazy Days Hazy Nights is a spin on the original. "A jacked up and juiced up take on our Hazy Days Juicy IPA. The addition of Samba hops adds even more tropical fruit, pineapple and citrus character to this hop-forward, juicy ale." Added Samba Hops to enhance the citrus and tropical taste of this IPA sounds like nothing but a good idea to me! I didn't notice much of a difference which is a good thing because I love the original. Bottom line is I have to taste this again, perhaps even side by side with the original to discover the differences and my preferred beer. Rather than scanning the code on the side to enter my opinion on the survey, I will take them in social media and invite them to tap into a planet of beer enthusiasts on Hive!

It may seem a bit premature to award this my coveted seal before sampling this again. Not the case though as the original is in my top-10 and this one tastes at least as good. Thanks for shaking things up....More Cowbell.

Winter Mix Pack

This is a bit of a tease for next week 343 but fits here with the weather we are having. Also another in a line of seasonal gift packs which seem to be very popular topics on the weekly Hops. I will get into the details but can you see anything here that would have surprised me when I opened up this 6-pack?

Tune in next week for the shocking surprise!

I’m not familiar with Hazy’s day and night though
It looks good
Not too light and thick
I love that!

Saturday beers are not drinking, it's merely an international charting project :) It would be a sin to reject participation. I hope it eventually gets a UN patronage or something ;)
