An unexpected event that happened

Hello everyone
Welcome to another amazing week, I feel super excited as the year is slowing to an end, I know so far I've been able to achieve some things on my list when the year began.

So let's dive into this week's contest topic.

Share anything interesting, good, amazing, or unexpected that happened last week, use your photo.

I'll be sharing with you something unexpected that happened to me last week at my place of work.

Last weekend I was supposed to travel to my uncle's funeral ( burial) in the village, so in my office, the normal thing that was to be done was to write a letter requesting permission to leave for the number of days needed and then the second requirement is speak to my director about it. In a situation where the director isn't available, you speak to the head of operations who will relate your matter directly to the director, and then give you feedback.

In my case, my director wasn't available so I went to the head of operations to tell him I would be traveling to my hometown for my uncle's funeral service, he asked me to write a formal letter seeking permission which I did, and submitted to him.

The following day when I got to the office I asked him if he had related my traveling plans to the director, he said no and assured me he was going to call the director before the close of work, I felt relaxed cause I wouldn't want to doubt an elderly person.

The next day I asked him if he had called the director, and he said no that he would, I even asked him if I should call the director myself, and he said I shouldn't even if he didn't tell the director he would decide on his own, I seconded.

Then finally my director came around that day, I was expecting the head of operations to tell the director about my journey but he didn't, he kept on giving excuses that the director was busy, he was with a visitor I said okay no problem.

After some minutes I went to the head of operations again, and he was like "MD has gone home to rest because he was stressed from his trip that I should call him later in the evening and tell him about my trip to my hometown". I laughed and I was like "Sir you assured me you'd tell the director about my traveling plans and I've been reminding you every day to call him and you didn't and now youre telling me I should call him and tell him myself, I told him okay I'll call the director myself, that was how I called the director told him about my trip, he was very upset about me telling him now, something I should've told him before now, I also told him I've related the matter to the head of operations and he was supposed to inform him but he didn't.

Fortunately, after speaking to my director, my permission was granted, even though the information was related late.

What made it unexpected?
It was unexpected because I expected the head of operations to have related my traveling plans to the director and not me telling the director myself, so the director would be aware I went through the right procedure. I feel on certain issues, I shouldn't be relating directly with the director but this has made me realize that I should be relating them directly to my director. Being employed in an organization there is always a higher authority that issues can be taken to before getting to the director's ear, I thought this organization observes things like that but I was wrong. Because no one will pass the information as I will.

thanks for reading 🌹

Yeah it is, he does it always, so if I have any issue I'll go to my director straight up and not him.

Your head of operations just wanted to mess things up for you.

I dislike such attitudes. The director of operations is rendering his office less significant with such attitudes.

Very less significant, he even pretends that he isn't aware of certain things while he knows. It's so not good.
Thank you for stopping by
