Es ist jetzt bald ein Jahr her, das ich zum Hivefest nach Amsterdam gefahren bin. Dort habe ich zwar viele tolle und nette Leute kennen lernen dürfen aber es blieb neben den ganzen Vorträgen und Gesprächen nur wenig Zeit, um sich auch die Stadt anzusehen.

Da meine Frau zuvor auch noch nie in Amsterdam gewesen ist, haben wir uns entschieden, ein paar Tage in Amsterdam zu verbringen.

Zum Hivefest im letzten Jahr bin ich noch mit dem Zug nach Amsterdam gefahren, da die Parkgebühren in Amsterdam sehr teuer sind. Mittlerweile hat man da aber was geändert und somit bin ich die Strecke (ca. 150 km) mit dem Auto gefahren. Das Auto haben wir im Ajax-Stadion geparkt und sind dann mit der Straßenbahn weiter in die Stadt gefahren.

Die Stadt Amsterdam ist für jeden einen Besuch wert. Es gibt hier viel zu entdecken. Das Rijksmuseum, die Grachten, die Heineken-Brauerei und natürlich auch das Rotlichtviertel mit den Bars und Coffeeshops.

In Amsterdam sollte man auch auf jeden Fall die typischen Gerichte zu sich nehmen. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Käse, Stroopwafels und natürlich allen voran eine schön große Portion Fritten.

Beim Schlendern durch die Gassen sind wir auch an der Brauerei "De Prael" (https://www.deprael.nl/) vorbeigekommen. Hier haben wir beim letzten Hivefest zusammen mit @detlev noch den #Beersaturday verbracht.

DePrael ist eine Micro-Brauerei und bietet die gebrauten Biere hauptsächlich im eigenen Lokal an. Die Auswahl der Biere ist jedoch sehr gut und vielfältig.

An Stelle von einem großen Bier hatte ich mir hier das Probierpaket mit 4 unterschiedlichen Bieren bestellt. Neben dem Knabberzeug und dem Wasser gab es noch:

  • Heintje (Weizen)
  • Code blond (Kölsch)
  • Herman (Indian Pale Ale)
  • Zwarte Riek (Milkstout)

Instead of a large beer, I had ordered the tasting package with 4 different beers here. In addition to the nibbles and water there were:

Meine Frau hat sich übrigens einen trockenen Rotwein geordert (in einer Brauerei). Beim nächsten Urlaub auf einem Weingut bestelle ich mir dann ein Weizen. Auf ihren Gesichtsausdruck bin ich schon gespannt 😀.

Wie auch immer...... Das hat mich aber nicht davon abgehalten, die Biere von einer zur anderen Seite zu probieren.

Heintje (Weizen)
Das Heintje hat eine leichte Süße und der typische Bananengeschmack des Weizen ist auch zu schmecken. Allerdings gibt es hier beim Weizen durchaus bessere Vertreter.

Code Blond (Kölsch)
Die Angabe der Bierart ist für mich verwirrend. Ich hatte es als Kölsch interpretiert. Dabei handelt es sich, wie man dem Namen auch entnehmen kann, um ein Blonde-Bier.
Der Geschmack ist absolut solide. Es ist leicht cremig und auch der Hopfen kommt gut zur Geltung. Ein gutes Blonde.

Zwarte Riek (Milkstout)
Ich hatte schon einige Stouts und Milkstouts und dieser Bierstil hat mir bislang gar nicht gefallen. Das Zwarte Riek ist für mich da eine echte Überraschung. Toller Biergeschmack, schöne Süße und süffig.

Herman (IPA)
Das Herman hatte ich schon im letzten Jahr beim Hivefest probiert. Das IPA könnte ein bisschen fruchtiger daherkommen. Dazu ist mir der Hopfen hier etwas zu sehr ausgeprägt was das Bier sehr harzig schmecken lässt.

By the way, my wife ordered a dry red wine (in a brewery). On the next vacation, on a winery I order me then a wheat. I'm already curious about her facial expression 😀.

However...... But that didn't stop me from trying the beers from one to the other.

Heintje (wheat)
The Heintje has a slight sweetness to it and the typical banana flavor of the Weizen can also be tasted. However, there are definitely better representatives here in the wheat.

Code Blond (Kölsch)
The indication of the beer type is confusing to me. I had interpreted it as Kölsch. However, as you can also see from the name, it is a Blonde beer.
The taste is absolutely solid. It's slightly creamy and the hops come through well too. A good Blonde.

Zwarte Riek (Milkstout)
I've had a few stouts and milkstouts and this style of beer has not appealed to me at all so far. The Zwarte Riek is a real surprise for me. Great beer flavor, nice sweetness and drinkable.

Herman (IPA)
I had already tried the Herman last year at Hivefest. The IPA could come across a bit fruitier. For me, the hops are a bit too pronounced here, which makes the beer taste very resinous.

Fazit

Sollte ich noch einmal zurückkehren zu De Prael, so würde ich mir auf jeden Fall einen "Zwarte Riek" bestellen. Von den probierten Bieren ist dieses mein absoluter Favorit.

Conclusion

If I were to return to De Prael again, I would definitely order a "Zwarte Riek". Of the beers tasted, this one is my absolute favorite.

Das mit dem Weizen bei der Weinverkostung wird sicher lustig, 😂
Wobei, ein wenig Verständnis habe ich ja für deine Frau, mir schmeckt auch kein Bier. 😉
