In a quest for food - my friend and I almost dissolved a wedding ceremony.

avatar

I've attended a lot of weddings thanks to the fact that I worked as a waiter throughout my university days to earn some pennies to ease the burden on my parents, and via that, I've attended countless parties during my undergraduate days. On one of those weekends when there was no gig, I and my friends decided to gatecrash a wedding ceremony happening close to our hostel, and our act at the event almost wrecked the wedding.

So my friends and I were used to having food in surplus at home, especially during weekends due to those parties we worked as waiters, but when that weekend seemed as though it was going to be boring without a job or food, we set out to look for which party was holding around us, and via our search, we discovered a wedding was holding not too far from our house.

As an experienced waiter, I know getting food from other waiters won't be easy, especially when you're gatecrashing and weren't invited, so another thing we took note of before returning home to prepare for the wedding was to identify the color of dress everyone wears at the event. Luckily, it was white, and most of my friends have white native attire, so we went home to get set for the party.

When we were done preparing and set out for the wedding, we all looked unique and mature in our matching white attire, to the point where we were Warmly welcomed by the bride's mother, who then took us to a table and instructed a waiter to serve us whatever we wanted. Luckily, our goals were already working because the plan was to be mistaken for some expected guest, and that was exactly how it worked out.

We had enough to eat and even collected more in our waterproof nylon to take home to feast on later. Apparently, we were mistaken for the groom's family, who came late to the party, and by the time they arrived, there wasn't enough food to go around for them, which led to misunderstandings between the groom's and the bride's families. I guess both families already had an agreement that the other family would do the cooking since the groom's family is coming from afar.

The argument was going overboard, and we can literally hear what they were saying. During their conversation, they even pointed towards us as part of the Groom's family that they've served. Realizing what we've caused, we immediately leave the place one after the other before we'll approached and questioned about who we are and the like.

Although that day we got home and laughed about what we'd done and how lucky we were, reflecting on it now, I felt bad and wished I could turn back the hand of time because I knew that would have caused a lot of damage Between both families.

That's about all I can say about my experience at a wedding that almost went Wrong, and it was written in response to a Hive Naija community prompt. You can read this post to get more information.

Thanks so much, have a blessed day ahead.

Do you want to reach your 50K List Power as soon as possible so that you can start to cash out 50% of your LIST earnings soon? One way to do is to post more often with Hivelist tags such as #contests, #forsale, #services etc. Another way to do it is to purchase the LIST tokens in the market (and power-up the tokens) whilst they are still reasonably priced.

Remember the increasing List Power gives you correspondingly
i) increasing income in Curation Rewards in LIST, plus
ii) increasing Staking Rewards in LIST tokens by Hivelist.

Unlike may other tokens, in Hivelist you get income from Staking in addition to income from Curation and Authorship.

Check out the token prices here.

I've always thought about gatecrashing but that's just it; the thought only remains in my mind. This was a fun experience and at the same time a bad one. I hope they eventually found food for the guests.

Oh you missed on in those fun. Most people planning parties around my institution then usually prepare seperate food for students, because they know we'll surely gateway.

In this case, we wanted to dress to feel among and that's exactly what happened.

I don't know why such parties do not happen around my institution...it would have been amazing 😅

Lols, I was lucky to school in an environment where they can do without holding at least 3 parties in a week.

In fact you'll see a party holding every single day, if you look closely.

But what's your own? You guys simply walked in and they took you to high table.

I enjoyed this read Boss
I know I'm supposed to be feeling bad for the couples because you guys literally scattered that ceremony before leaving but I can't help but laugh over it too.

The fact that you were able to go with the outfits that could make them mistake you all for their special guests, you guys are good 😂

Nice one, I wish I could try this gatecrashing experience lol.

Omo desperate times call for desperate measures so I don't even blame you. And even if the hands of times were turned, with this rough economic times, I am very sure you would have still done the same thing. Lol

That was a well planned mission accomplished... lol

With your body size and your white attire, they easily assumed that you guys are from the groom's family...what a day ..choi, food went wrong here to the rightful owners..lol

That's a student life anyway and with your regret, I know you wouldn't do that now

Nice read Vic

We'll do anything to loot my dear, it's not easy to survive as a student.

And gatecrashing Is a helpful way of survival.

It's a funny experience, but man need to survive.

Bro, you just reminded me of school days and it looks like I will participate in this as well.

I can't count how many parties I gatecrashed because of surviving, it was my surest means of gathering food over the weekend.

We had a white material for just the weekend and you will take us for part of the member's family.
