Weekend-engagement #176 : Gardening in the rainy season, when the sun is hot
Hello friends in Weekend Experience Community. My post today is to contribute to the writing challenge for Week 176 with admin @galenkp. This week I will choose a topic :
No matter if you're coming into winter or summer weather will alter what you do with your weekend. Give us a snapshot of the things you do (or have done) over a weekend in the heat of summer or the cold of winter.
Beside my house there is a vegetable garden, not large, only a few square meters. Usually I plant spinach, kale, tomatoes and mustard greens, I like gardening and the results can meet my family's vegetable needs. By the beginning of October some of the vegetables had gone and I had to replant vegetables in my garden. But for the last few weeks the weather hasn't been very friendly (rainy in the morning and afternoon), so I haven't been able to plant vegetables. I only have morning and afternoon time because during the day I have to work as a teacher. This weekend, it rained lightly in the morning, I couldn't garden, even though the garden next to my house was overgrown with weeds and bushes. At noon, the sun began to shine brightly, I was very happy, finally I could garden. I was so excited, I took a hat to protect my face from sun exposure.
Seeing the bushes and wild grass growing abundantly, at first I was confused about where to start. Finally I decided to start pulling all these weeds. Then I collected some plastic waste and some used bottle
I separated the used bottles that could still be used and piled them in a corner.
When I pulled out the weeds, I found several snails, they were hiding among the thick grass.
There are two large tails, it looks like they are the parents. Not far from the two parents, I also found several snails that were still young. I took the snail snails to make them catfish food.
I started to sweat because of the hot weather, but I was very happy to be able to clean my garden. I started collecting dry rubbish and started burning it, the remains of this rubbish can be used as plant fertilizer, I don't use manufactured fertilizer, only organic fertilizer from leftover rubbish in the garden and in the kitchen.
Finally, in a matter of 3 hours, I was able to tidy up my garden which was originally a mess.
I also filled several polybags to grow vegetables.
I'm also looking for some cassava stems as a fence for my vegetable plants. The cassava stems will grow too and I can take the leaves to make a side dish.
Even though the sun is scorching hot, I am still enthusiastic about tidying up the garden, because usually until the end of December, it continues to rain. I'm looking for the right time between the rainy season and this Sunday I have time to garden. Finally my desire to garden can come true 🥰🥰🥰
