Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 157

Good day everyone, I hope you are all well!

The 1st picture in this post is a collage and there are no birds in it so don't strain your eyes looking for one. I thought that with some of the info that @nelinoeva was requesting to have included in this week's post, I'd show you the walk that we took while at a park in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. While strolling around the footpath that circled a lake we ran into some pretty cool stuff and I was happy we brought the camera.

From a good distance off I spotted a very dark shape hanging out on the path we were taking. As we got closer to the object that was in our path we realized that it was a bird, a big bird. We stopped in our tracks, not wanting to scare the bird before we could take a few pictures of it. To our surprise, the bird stayed put as we slowly walked closer and closer. Now we were able to identify the bird, it was a Turkey Vulture. I guess we got a little too close and the bird flew off.

The Turkey Vulture circled above for less than a minute before landing on the tree that was hanging over the path. It didn't seem to mind our presence even though we were within 50 feet of it.

As the bird made its way across the tree we were able to shoot one picture after the next.

After admiring the Turkey Vulture for several minutes we decided to get closer, hoping to have it take flight and get a picture of the bird in flight. It took flight and disappeared into the woods before I could get a single pic.

As we continued our walk around the lake we spotted the skeleton of a rather large fish that had been picked to the bone.

I would like the 3rd picture to be considered for the contest, Thank You.

A big thank you to @melinda010100 @barbara-orenya and @nelinoeva for this week's contest.

Ah THAT is where the turkey vultures go in the winter! Seeing some signs of spring with the Jays and other little birds back here in the north.

I didn't realize that they migrated. I can't blame them, we did.
We're also seeing signs of Spring with birds returning, most notably the Robin.

The vacation was just what the doctor ordered, although it could have been a little warmer, most days were in the low sixties.

good to talk buddy.

We were shocked that we were able to get that close to such a large bird. There was a second one that we spotted in the same tree, but pretty much hidden among the foliage.
Nice to be back posting again!

The vulture did seem to have an agenda. While we were walking around the lake we also saw Silver fish jumping out of the water. No wonder the Turkey Vultures were hanging out there.

The warmer weather was welcomed for sure. When it was time to depart I had to drag Robin to the car, kicking and screaming.😁

It's funny, I travel for a month or so and I've got one bag. Robin, on the other hand, has everything packed but the kitchen sink. By the time she gets done getting a little something for all family members, I need a trailer hitched to the back of the car to transport all of the goods.😁

Imagine how upset those little faces would be arriving home with no surprises, roof rack might be easier 🙃

Vultures can look somewhat intimidating for sure, but like most other living things they tend to try to avoid man.

Si pero No, if I say it, it won't be that he knows that some predator is nearby and is counting on it to come eat us😆😅
