Tap tap Whale - a fanmade Holozing themed game + GIVEAWAY

image.png

Hello everyone!

Today I am talking about a game I discovered a couple of days ago. It's developed by @raulmz in awaiting of the official Holozing game. On the site, you can see above mentioned dex, which is a machine to view ingame information. When you go to the following website: https://subtle-kringle-8c7033.netlify.app/ you can experience it yourself. The first thing you have to do, is login through 'Keychain'.

As the first step, you have to fill in your Hive name, in my case it's 'stekene'. You don't have to put the @ symbol before your name. The second step is you clicking on the keychain symbol. This will open your keychain extension asking you to verify the action. Afterwards, you're succesfully logged in. There are several things you can already do on this website:

Rewards: It's possible to claim your Holozing rewards all at once. As you probably already know by now, it's possible to earn the $ZING token through staking, delegation and POSH. I won't go further in detail about these methods as I've recently blogged about it. You can find my other article here. Will probably write a separate article about the POSH rewards as I just discovered them quite recently as well.

Token info: Here you can find some information about the $ZING token, like its supply, the total amount which is staked and its market price.

Profile: I think this isn't available yet. My guess would be that here some information about your Holozing avatar itself will be displayed. The site is still being updated further on, so I am sure it will be made available soon!

Mini game: Here is the best part of the site until now in my eyes, there's a minigame in the theme of Holozing. For those of you who know Flappybird, it will probably remind you of something ;)

Recently the creator of this minigame, @raulmz, even hosted a contest in relation to his minigame. You can find the announcement here Whoever could achieve the highest score, won 10 hive + 60% of the rewards of his announcement article. The second place scored 5 hive + 20% of the rewards of his announcement article and the third place scored 5 hive + 10% of the rewards of his announcement article. As the post payout has already occurred and he got a juicy upvote of Holozing (definitely well deserved!), he reached a total of 85.87 Hive rewards

Ofcourse when I came across this contest, I definitely wanted to try it out. It took some time before I could play the game as I had a rather busy workweek. But that's not the main topic of this article. When I first tried out the game, I constantly bumped against the corals on the top or the floor. A couple of times, I clicked too much, which made me end near the ceiling and not going down. You already can guess it, I collided once again against the corals. After trying the game out for a couple of times, I could reach a score of about 30.000 points. I thought it wasn't bad at all. When I went to the announcement article where I saw people posting their highscores, I figured out there were already people scoring over 90.000. I was really amazed how they could do it.

As I am not really someone who is surrendering easily, I kept on playing. Slowly I reached better scores than my 30.000 but every now and than, I ended up at less than 10.000 as well. Conclusion: I definitely wasn't there yet! Suddenly, out of nowhere, I reached a highscore of 99.840 points. I surpassed all previous highscores of mine, but of the other participants as well. I decided to stop playing the game for now.

The end of the contest was coming closer and I kept on eye on it, as I didn't want to lose the opportunity to lose my potential rewards. Noone was handing in scores higher than mine, so I was already celebrating my win of the contest. But as the end of the contest was at the payout of the announcement article, I thought that people would play the game, pass on my score and just submit it just before the end of the contest. Luckily the end of the contest was at 2:41 am and I didn't have to do something else the day after so I decided to stay awake and to see if something would happen.

Guess what! In the last couple of hours, some other players suddenly appeared and they submitted scores surpassing my 99k score. They had scores of 100k and a bit higher. Luckily I stayed awake and could do my best to achieve a better score. Again, I ned to play the game for a couple of times as the first times I didn't reach good scores. Didn't even reached my own highscore. But being patient and sticking to the goal of achieving a better score paid off in the end. I ended with a score of 123k which would be the highest. As the end of the competition was getting closer, I decided to keep on playing as others were probably doing so as well. Finally I hit my highest score ever: 133.980!!!

Conclusion

On Hive there are a lot of projects being build. Usually it pays off to look around where you can find new projects. Often contests are held and when you put time and effort in, you could win something. In this case, I really had fun, while discovering a new mini-game which could potentially let me earn a nice reward as well.

Giveaway

As I am already kind of assuming I would win atleast something, I would like to spread the kindness of sharing. Thus I'll hand out 2 HSBI to one of the persons reblogging this article. Will announce the winner after this post pays out.

Thank you for reading! I want to thank @raulmz in particular for creating his awesome dex and his generous contest!

Hi @stekene.

Congratulations on your achievement! The final scores were impressive and the level of competition was high. I'm glad to see that, despite everything, you had fun playing; after all, that was the main goal.

I appreciate your mentions and comments. I regret the delay in delivering the awards; I have been working on some improvements for the game and my intention was to make payments once they were ready. However, because this is taking longer than expected, I have decided to proceed with payments.

I will soon make a post with the improvements and final results. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

I definitely had fun, that's in my eyes the most important part, so kudos to you!

No worries about any delays, totally understandable! Was just searching for a topic to write about and wanted to try to explain my experience of your game and the competition! :)

Keep up the good work with your dex / website!

What's the difference between a taxidermist and a tax collector?
A taxidermist takes only your skin.
