Last Man Standing | Play to WIN 20,000 HIVE

avatar

Hello SPIers, today we look into a something i have been thinking about. This is something that might happen someday but not anytime soon. Im really just looking for some feedback. If you got title baited, HA!🪝

So, for anyone who knows SPinvest, you'll know that we are a multi-token project. We have SPI which is the flagship token for SPinvest, we have EDS which provides a HIVE income to holders, DAB with BRO which is a daily HIVE drip and finally XV token which is a 2-year project were we invested into a crypto basket containing 15 out of the top 50 ranked. We have 8 tokens in total under us within these projects.

I could release tons more tokens easily but running them all is the thing. I still have many ideas all the time but I know I can't really act on them which is frustrating. SPI has released pretty much all of my bucket list, fund, income and index but we're missing a game.

Im not a coder and I dont think dropping $20k of SPI's money to build a game that may or may not be popular would be a good idea. I did a 3000 word in the past about a HIVE stocks game where things like tribes, communities and utilities were traded like stocks but I never got great feedback. It was a little complex but not overly so today i have something more simple.

Last Man Person Standing

There you go, you already understand the concept 😉

So this game would be the last person standing. To play, people would have 6 months to join in, players would need to send HIVE to @spinvest each week. Everyone would send the same amount but if you miss 1 week you are out and it runs like that until the last person is standing.

  • Send 2 HIVE to @spinvest each week
  • Miss a week and you are out
  • Rebuys and new players would be possible for the first 6 months
  • Last person standing wins!

Easy, right? Now let's complicate things. Something like this could run for years and years thanks to recurring payments and there has to be some incentive for people to play because most people will understand they can not win and they would skip the project. I've learnt over the past few years from running projects that the best incentive is money.

If we give something, we must also take something to even up the krama

image.png

  • Give
Monthly HIVE payout to players 😁

  • Take
Each month, someone is randomly selected to be removed from the game 😭

With this give and take, people would have more incentive to play because they would be getting a monthly payment that should increase each month so everyone gets something back. The take introduces some luck but on the flipside, this also gives us a guaranteed end.

How it would work

Not going into great detail here but will go through the basic stuff. We would launch it and people would have 6 months to get involved, after that time, people missing payments will be culled. 6 months because this is a good time to build up some funds and 6 months is plenty of time for players to get involved. During this time, players that miss a payment are free to rebuy.

Buyin and rebuy cost

  • The cost would be 2 HIVE per week
  • The first payment for a new player starting on week 1 would be 2 HVIE and 2 HIVE a week after
  • The first payment for a new player starting on week 10 would be 20 HIVE and 2 HIVE a week after
  • The rebuy cost for an existing player would be half the cost of a new player. If a player missed week 9 and rebought on week 10, the cost would be 10 HIVE and 2 HIVE a week after.

After 6 months

  • No more new players, no more rebuys
  • Monthly HIVE payouts would be shipped to players on the 15th of every month
  • Players missing any payment will be removed = Game over
  • 1 Played would be randomly selected and removed = Game over
  • We play until 2-3 players remain and then give them the chance to either split the prize money or play until 1 person wins the lot!

GAME OVER!

Some Numbers

Just as an example of some numbers, lets say...

  • we pick up 100 players over 6 months (2 HIVE * 26 weeks * 100 players) = 5,200 HIVE
  • we have 5 rebuys at 13 weeks (2 HIVE * 13 weeks / 2 * 5 players) = 65 HIVE
  • we have 50 players left after 1 year. 6-12 months ( 2 HIVE * 26 weeks * 50 players) + ( 2 HIVE * 13 weeks * 50 players) = 3,900 HIVE
  • We lose 12 players per year

Year 1 end total prize fund with 50 players = 9,165 HIVE
Year 2 end total prize fund with 38 players = 13,800 HIVE
Year 3 end total prize fund with 26 players = 17,100 HIVE
Year 4 end total prize fund with 14 players = 19,200 HIVE
Year 5 end total prize fund with 2 players = 20,000 HIVE

This does not factor in monthly HIVE payments that would start after 6 months. It's more just to show that after 5 years of playing, someone could win 20k HIVE. Even if 50% of the total is paid out to players over the 4.5 years, thats still a 10k HIVE prize which is chunky.

Round Up

Ok, im glad to have got this out of my system. It's a simple game, people could use recurring payments to play but if some master HIVE node thang goes offline and your payment is missed, you're GONE!

The above numbers are just to show how much could be accumulated. The actual game could be 5 HIVE a week, 1 HIVE a day or we could run 2 games at once, 1 for 2 HIVE and another for 5-10 HIVE. If released, I'd throw in some fee for SPI to collect for operating the game, something small. We could play with HBD and split the interest, we could play with HIVE and power it up to use while the prize builds over 5 years. Of course, it is not likely we'll get 100 players but it is possible we could get 60-70 and have 50 after 1 year.

image.pngYEP!

Anyway, it's something I've had on my mind and I can't think of anything else to write about today so there you go. This one could be fun. Maybe fun in my head only and not so much for others, haha.

Feedback is welcome, what do you think?

I think you need more manual effort to increase the odds of missing out

I kinda agree. I had thought to make it so the amount changed each week. I'd release a weekly post from the SPI account with an amount in the title between 1-3 HIVE. That might only last a few months, lol.

It could be done 10 different ways, the manual was the first thing that popped to mind but after some thought, allowing recurring payments builds a bigger pot and runs longer.

Maybe a good middle ground would be let players use recurring payments but change the amount every 6-12 weeks. This would make it semi-automatic and active action would be required.

The randomly selection and removal was the show stopper for me.

Its harsh but we'd need a way to thin the field out. I understand it not something for everyone. Thanks for your feedback, all feedback is good feedback.

I soon as I read "randomly selected" I was out. My luck in these here parts is rubbish so I wouldn't risk being kicked out willy nilly. Sounds fun for people who enjoy a gamble though.

This reminds me of a lottery type game I've had rolling around in my head for a long time that I would like to set up on Hive one of these days. Basically you buy in and once a week/month whatever a draw occurs where either one of two things happen: 10% of the prize pool is evenly distributed to the players (basically consolation prize) or 90% is paid out to one lucky winner. With the jackpot odds being sufficiently low, the prize pool could grow to be quite large over time, incentivizing repeat play.
