(Eng / Esp) #BeerSaturday Challenge: Budweiser Lager

avatar

Greetings, again, friends of the BEER community. I wanted to participate in the previous challenge, but unfortunately last Tuesday the 16th I had a loss in my family, which left me very sad, I that didn't allow me to feel good and publish. However, yesterday I was reflecting for a long time on the brevity of life, and on the privilege of being alive, and I resumed posting. I think that's what Eva would have wanted, for me to see life like that, as a blessing that must be appreciated and lived. So today I'm back, to participate in the contest corresponding to week 342.

Yesterday my husband went out shopping, and I asked him to bring some beers from the store, in fact, he bought me two, and today I will show you one of them. This one that I bring you is a beer that, as I understand it, is German, but it is manufactured under license in the neighboring country of Colombia, and it is the BUDWEISER LAGER , whose price here, on the site where I currently live, it is 0.95 US$ per can. Let's get to know this beer!

THE BEER / LA CERVEZA

Like the beer that I presented in my previous post in this community, what I liked first sight of this beer, is the neat presentation it has: A can with a careful design, which I suppose corresponds to the original. In the visual part, the color red stands out on the white, accompanied by details and letters in silver gray, and other letters in black and white, a combination that is visually beautiful. On the top, the opener is small, red, very cute, a nice detail.

As I suppose all cans of beer and liquor manufactured in Colombia present, this one also has on the front a warning regarding the consumption of alcoholic beverages and its impact on human health, I believe it is a regulation of that country. The can has information printed on one side, indicating that this beer is manufactured by BAVARIA & CIA, in Bogotá, Colombia. The alcoholic strength is 5 °C, and the content is 269 ml. On that same side you have the Customer Service line and recommendations on how it should be consumed (very cold).

As always, before opening the can, I do what Dad taught me: Clean the can well on top and sides, avoiding any contamination or residue. When I open it, I see the foam and the beautiful amber color, which tells me that this is a great beer.

To serve it on this occasion I use a medium glass, since it is a somewhat small beer, only 269 ml, and the cup holder I have for today is an old one, Miller brand, which I think belonged to my grandfather, I'm not too sure. I know that the ideal is for a glass, coaster and beers to match, but for today I don't meet that beautiful standard.

As I am in an exploratory exercise and tasting new beers, that is, new for me, since I have no references to compare, I will say what I felt when drinking this delight: The flavor is super good, I really like how it floods the palate, in a subtle but progressive way, with an unusual and delicate sweetness. The color is beautiful, a very pretty amber. Its smell reminds me a little of walnut, I don't know why, but that's what I perceive. And here I will make a paragraph to explain something: Since 2020 I have experienced COVID19 twice, and the first time I suffered it, I lost something very precious to me, which is my sense of smell. The second time, fortunately the illness was less severe; the truth is that I have currently recovered my precious sense of smell, and sometimes I think it is more powerful than it was before I lost it.

imagen.png

And as I said in my last post, I don't really like blonde or light beers, because they seem insipid to me; but this beer is the exception because it is DELICIOUS, so I highly recommend it, and I think that without a doubt I would drink it very cold, to refresh myself and to celebrate the best thing we all have: LIFE.

Here I end my post today, the first in this wonderful community and in this contest, in which I have shared a wonderful beer: BUDWEISER LAGER. Cheers!

¡Salud¡

According to the initials "AB" on the can, I think it is a beer licensed by the American company Anheuser Bush.
The "Budweiser" brand has been the subject of legal disputes for many years. This brand belongs to the Czech brewery Budvar, based in České Budějovice.
Czech Budvar exports beer all over the world. It is possible that you can also purchase the original. So if you see a red Budweiser Budvar sign somewhere, it is a Czech original.

Cheers!!

Hi @bucipuci

One of the things I like most about this community is that users like you are people with extensive knowledge about beers. I am a neophyte in that area, that's why I love these types of comments, because that's how I learn. I was absolutely unaware of all this information, I had the wrong idea that Budweiser was a German beer, which is why I found it curious when my husband brought me that can (and another one, which I will publish later), which had been manufactured in Colombia.

Thank you for your valuable comment, have a great week.

I'm not a super expert, but I live in the city where the original Budvar is produced :-)

Oh, that is so sad! To call a beer "Original Budweiser" and use rice for the malt - what a shame.

Hi @godfish

When I spoke of "original" I was referring to the design of the can, because apparently, this Colombian company (I live in Venezuela), which is producing that beer in Colombia.

Being a neophyte when it comes to beers, I don't have a deep knowledge of the subject; that's why I really like it when knowledgeable people make this type of comment to me, because that's how I learn.

I love this community and everything I can learn from it.

Have a great week!

The brand basically parasites on a world-renowned one, the original Budweiser Budvar. Which, obviously, contains no rice at all. But is actually brewed in Budweis, hence it is Budweiser...
