This is my entry for the weekly Splinterlands Art Contest found HERE

Here is the original card art:

Created in Clip Studio Paint Pro on a Microsoft Surface Pro 7+. Here is the timelapse video:

And here is the step-by-step breakdown of the drawing steps.

Step One: Rough draft

Step Two: Line art layer. Trying something different. I wanted to try to make the line art invisible in the final image, so used a medium gray pointillism brush. Probably could have just used a pencil and gotten the same result.

Step Three: Erase the rough layer and make a flat layer with the skin color. Also, you can see that I accidentally put some of the shading on this layer. Digital artists hate it when we draw on the wrong layer...

Step Four: Separate flat color layers for hair, bone, eye and maw. Again, more shading strokes on the wrong layer.

Step Five: Shading! On the "shading" layer!

Step Six: Make a separate Overlay layer on top of all the rest for highlights.

Step Seven: I used StarryAI to generate a background layer using the prompt "demonic landscape" in the "Fantasy" style.

Step Eight: Sign and date the bottom right corner so that everyone knows that this is an original piece by Matt S. Law.

That's all. See you next week.
