Battle Mage Secrets: The Little People

Introduction

I'm here to share my Battle Mage Secrets blog post for the Battle Mage Secrets Challenge. The theme featured this week is Little League. In this ruleset, you can only use cards with 4 mana or lower. This actually takes out a lot of cards from the game so it's actually quite interesting to play this ruleset in my opinion.

My Strategy & Tips For Little League

I have a few different strategies for this ruleset. It really depends on the other rulesets that go along with it as well as what elements are available. I will share the main strategies I use for this ruleset. Some strong cards in this ruleset are like Dr Blight. I would say this is a god tier unit for Little League. The next ones would be like Xenith Monk, Pelacor Conjurer, Pelacor Bandit, Failed Summoner. A bulky card infront with some sort of thorns, return fire or magic reflect is a decent frontline in this ruleset.

A popular lineup for this ruleset I like to play is double sneak with Uraeus and Pelacor Conjurer. If I don't go for this lineup I will go with one that focuses the front with ranged like angelic mandarin, Merdhampir, Kulu Swimhunter.

There are some lineup that involve Failed Summoner and Mylor with Grendadier and supporting units which is quite strong as well. Aside from that there are also heavy magic teams with Obsidian utilizing queen mycelia and biljka as well as other magic units that are 4 mana or less.

The Battle

I played this battle on my account, shawnnft. The battle link can be found here. This battle is in tier3 brawl. It is the 12th fray which is Wild Diamond. I was the away team so if somehow the battle was a draw I would lose. The ruleset for this battle was Little League, Silenced Summoners, and Earthquake. It was a 52 mana battle with only water, life and dragon element available.

Discussing My Lineup

Summoner, Quix The Devious - I chose Quix because it's silenced summoner so it's actually good to choose dragon since you can have access to the dragon element units as well. If I had a lower mana dragon summoner that was 3 mana I would probably use it but I didn't. Then again it also didn't matter since the ruleset gave 52 mana which was more than enough to play Little League ruleset with.

First Position, Xenith Monk - I chose Xentih Monk to be my frontline since it has decent speed and health. I also like how it has void and magic reflect to cover the magic damage. The healing could also end up great since there's earthquake.

Second Position, Venari Marksrat - I chose Venari Marksrat to be in the 2nd position because I wanted it to be taken down and buffing my first and third position units.

Third Position, Pelacor Bandit - The main purpose of Pelacor Bandit was to get buffed by marksrat and to survive the earthquake damage since it has flying. It also was a great choice at eliminating enemy backline.

Fourth Position, Angelic Mandarin - The purpose of this card was to =reduce magic damage but it also could heal the backline in case there was any sneak damage.

Fifth Position, Merdhampir - The purpose of this card was to do DPS but it also had snare to remove any flying from the opponent. Since it had life leech, it could get more health as the battles goes which would help it be a decent tank for the finisher.

Last Position, Dr Blight - Dr Blight was my last unit for this battle. As mentioned before many times in my posts, this is truly the best 4 mana card in splinterlands in my opinion. It's a beast all on it's own and can be used in almost any ruleset.

Analysis of The Battle

I think I played a solid lineup for this battle. I believe the opponent made a mistake by placing his bandit towards the backline. I also think their team was lacking damage since they placed Xenith Monk at the third position. These are the mistakes that led me to victory. I don't think I would've changed anything in my lineup for this battle.

Do I Like Little League?

Personally, I enjoy playing little league. I think it's a nice refresher not to play and settle with all the higher mana cards. Little league gives low mana cards to shine and it definitely keeps the game more interesting. I wonder if they would create a new ruleset called Big League and you can only use units with 8 or more mana. I think this would be an interesting idea.

congrats on your victory. I don't really like little league ruleset. I prefer playing monsters that cost more mana.

Welm done.
I love to play with fire and earth mostly for little league. The cerberus is very effective when using the fire and failed summoners looks cool wen using the earth.

To be honest I am not familiar with the modern card much, with thinking of laying in modern format but I have to spare time which is the main hurdle...
