Battle Mage Secrets: A Magic Showdown

Introduction

Happy Monday. It's the start of the week and I'm here to share my Battle Mage Secrets blog post for the Battle Mage Secrets Weekly challenge. The theme featured this week is Wands Out. This means that we have to use units that have magic. The cool part about this is it still allows units with dual damage like magic/melee magic/ranged to be played. For example, Quora and Runemancer Florre to be used in this ruleset. I want to share my strategy and tips for this ruleset as well as a battle that I thought was interesting.

My Strategy & Tips For Wands Out

For Wands Out, you want to focus on trying to counter against magic. For units, there may be magic units that have silence like Goblin Psychic, Elvin Mystic or counterspell like Prismatic Energy will be key to winning the battles. You can also try to find units that have dual attack types to try to counter against this counter to magic which I mentioned before Quora and Florre as examples.

In terms of summoners, any summoners that buff magic, reduce magic are good in this ruleset. Some summoners for example are Obsidian, Alric, Valnamor, Immortalis, Thaddius, Owster and Mimosa. These summoners do give an advantage in this ruleset since you're focusing on manipulating the magic damage being done. Another interesting strategy that is underrated is having Quix with Void Dragon. Sometimes if people choose to play Earth element, they won't have enough speed to hit the void dragon with phase.

The Battle

I played this battle on my scholar account, bltzr-wizard-727. The battle link can be found here. This battle was in Modern Diamond league. The rulesets for this battle was Wands Out, Weak Magic and Even Stevens. This battle had a 13 mana cap and all elements were available except Earth and Death.

Discussing My Lineup

Summoner, Kelya Frendul - I chose Keyla as the summoner. I believe it was the best choice since it provided the armor to block a hit and gives speed for my Oshannus to dodge attacks.

First Position, Djinn Oshannus - Djinn Oshanus was the best play for me. It's super beefy and has void armor and phase to counter against magic.

Analysis of The Battle

I got absolutely obliterated :(. The ruleset was very limited. There weren't many good choices for me since it's magic units only and even only. This led to not many choices for units to choose from. I believe I played the best possible lineup I could since I only have CL set cards and that's not even including Riftwatchers. The opponent came up with a Kitty and a Efreet Elder. Once I saw the Kitty, I knew I was in for a loss. The Kitty ensured his unit couldn't miss as well as make sure it can sustain through the battle. If it wasn't bad enough his unit also had last stand which gave it insane stats. My Oshannus got worn out and I lost the fight. I honestly don't think I could've done better with what I had. I had no chance and I thought the opponent played a brilliant lineup that probably was the best lineups with the particular ruleset so kudos to Dimmerobject.

Do I Like Wands Out Ruleset?

Wands Out ruleset is a great ruleset and I enjoy playing it. It kind of gives us a magic face off which is a nice change now and then. It will definitely be more interesting as there will be more units with dual typing attacks as well as dual elements in the upcoming ruleset potentially.

Summoners with Tank Healing ability is like double dose of booster for lineup... sometimes we are just stuck because of the limit choice..

Lol don't forget his last stand . Too broken. You can think of any lineup that can beat that? In those rulesets
