Back To Calling & SMS?

In this day and age, I believe almost everybody uses social media. Even my grandma knows how to use social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. I said almost everybody because I do know there are those people that still live in tribes. They are still super old school hunting for survival and building shelters. These people probably don't even have phones or wifi or know what they are.

The world wasn't always like this though. When I was super young, there was a time when there was no social media, no smart phones and PCs were not too affordable and accessible to everybody. I was fine without it and there were many people fine without it as well. We were most likely playing sports, socializing outside, watching television or playing with toys/ board games versus nowadays where most people spend time watching shorts on YouTube, trying to take nice photos for their Instagram and the list goes on and on.

My Life Without Social Media
I'm trying to imagine my life now without social media. Life would be a bit harder without social media but I am human so I would still survive. If I didn't have social media instead of spending time on social media. I probably could be doing something else like volunteering, sports, anime or gaming.

Honestly, the impact would be huge for my life since I depend on WhatsApp for work and to communicate for business purposes. It would make things more inefficient for me. I would have to go back to the old school way of communication which is calling or sending sms. In addition to that, I wouldn't be able to blog here on Hive. I love writing here on Hive in a place where my content will be saved on the blockchain for life. On top of that, I can have a side income to invest and grow my wealth here through writing on Hive. Furthermore, I wouldn't be able to discuss about games with my friends or conveniently research what are the hottest NFT projects to invest into on Discord. There's a lot of quality information that I can get through social media and it also helps me stay in contact with friends and family.

Based on what I mentioned above, I believe it would make my life worse. Social media is truly a gift to the world as long as it's not being abused. I say abused because with good things people always try to find ways to exploit. For example, there's a lot of scammers pretending to be somebody else and try to scam people for money. In addition to that, we have people that just spend way too much time on social media.

Conclusion
Social media is a vital component to my life and many others. It definitely would change a lot of people's lives if we didn't have it anymore. If it was never created in the first place, that would be a different story. It's harder to get used to something being taken away from us versus not being introduced to the something in the first place.
