Ayanokoji is the equivalent of an overpowered protagonist but instead of the screaming and punching variety, he goes with scheming. Light had more character in terms of finding solutions to his shortcomings and even if we know the outcome will be Light overcoming the challenge, it's the process that makes it more entertaining than the outcome. What do you find exciting about a protagonist that keeps it to himself and even has a limited monologue about his thought process? at first, the limited information adds to his mystery but then it gets boring.

Light had a clear rival that complemented his strengths and weaknesses. Ayanokoji has no one of that caliber presented in the anime so far. Even Sakayanagi seemed like a monster of the week that Ayanakoji just needs to overcome without any real threat. He is flat as a character because he has no vested interested to begin with. His rebellion and attempts to be free goes against natural logic, he was better off being at his father's side at the upper echelon and having the most access to power over others. But instead, he opted to go to school and there's not much we can go on as to why he would bother, what? love? friendship? to live? he already states that none of those matter to him.

On what aspect of the guy do you find yourself relating to him?

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

This is so indepth that I'm in a loss of wordsπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜”

I think he's cool ShaπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I don't try to find any relating aspect to him.
Although I do understand the need to want to make his own decisions.
He feels the white room is constrictive and thus he has no freedom of choice...

So he goes to this school which is more or less above his father reach..

"Feels" does he even feel at all? did you read the light novels or this interpretation is based off of just watching the anime?

I dropped the light novel after the first 3 chapters, Ayanokoji was more darker there than the anime and there were a lot of monologues in his thought process left out. We're talking about Anime Ayanokoji here right? I don't think I should discuss light novel version to someone that hasn't read it, we're not on the same page. We're talking about anime Ayanokoji, and anime Ayanokoji is watered down version of himself from the source material.
