Beer Tasting: Green Gold Komb4jn and Kácov Hubertus

avatar

Hello everyone! 🍻

I'm still on vacation and just prepared a family lunch. Noodles with vegetables and fish in an aluminum bag in the oven.

It's hot and sunny today. The right time for a cold beer and #beersaturday, 317 in a row.

Two cans are chilled in the fridge, one Slovenian and one Czech. They will be perfectly chilled after the lunch.

First, the one with less alcohol.

No, lunch first, then beer, my wife decide. Ok :)

🍻 😎 🍻

Green Gold Komb4jn Pale Ale

Brewed by Green Gold Brewing, Šempeter v Savinjski dolini, Slovenia.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.0% ABV, 35 IBU. It's a wheat Pale Ale style beer.

What do the master brewers say?

Pale Ale komb4jn has a refreshing grapefruit flavour that will take your taste buds back to hot summer days from the first time you touch it. Brewed at a lower alcohol level (the number is hidden in the name), you can enjoy it without guilt. It is brewed with Pale Ale and wheat malts, which pair perfectly with the local hop varieties Aurora and Styrian Dragon.
And remember: You can always drink one more!

Yes, agree, I can always drink one more :)

The beer is cloudy yellow and the head is average. It smells of fresh bread and hops. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, with the bitterness of the hops dominating the palate, followed by the sweetness of the malt. Hints of tropical aromas in the background, probably grapefruit.
The bitterness and maltiness remain in the aftertaste, but everything else is quickly lost.

Refreshing and tasty. Although with less alcohol, it is not watery, reminding me of a classic English Pale Ale. Cold is quite OK in this heat.

🍻 😎 🍻

A look at my holiday resort that I have been returning to for more than 30 years.

It's not so wild anymore, but it's still nice. Well, I'm older too...

🍻 😎 🍻

Let's move forward!

Kácov Hubertus Premium Lager

Brewed by Pivovar Hubertus Kácov, Central Bohemia, Czech Republic.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.7% ABV, 33 IBU. It's czech or Bohemian Lager style, rich, hoppy with bready malt.

What do the master brewers say?

It is the flagship of the Hubertus brewery. It is Characterised by a pleasant bitterness, full flavor, and excellent foaminess. Lower fermentation ensures mainly the beer's fullness and bready character. All the qualities of Hubertus Prémium lager can be appreciated especially in its fresh, unfiltered form.

My first meeting with this brewery.

The beer is cloudy golden in color, the head is average. Malty smell. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, the bitterness of the hops dominates the palate but is immediately followed by the sweetness of the malt. Hay, bread, maybe some herbs.
The sweetness and bitterness linger in the aftertaste for a while, then it all disappears.

A refreshing beer, not bad but a bit too overwhelmingly sweet for my taste. If there was less of that sweetness it would be excellent.
But, hey, in this heat and chilled it's quite okay.

🍻 😎 🍻

Well, that's all for today. As you can see from the photos, while I'm trying beers we're playing Rummy and I'm not in the best position. We're also listening to music, which, of course, I choose. Nothing from #newtunes because I didn't write them :)
Something sleepy-summer psychedelic, as befits this afternoon heat...

I refer a sweet beer to nothing but malt with a drop of alcohol. I love when beer is well brewed and I can feel that good taste from that sexy chilled can or bottle content.

I hope you are enjoying your vacation

Cheers 🍻

Canned Hubertus ain't no good, come to their brewery in the village of Kácov, though :) Drafted at the very source, it's way better. Plus it veeery affordable, a large glass for CZK 32 (€ 1.3).

Thanks for the info. I've bought it somewhere in Czech-Austrian border in one store. As mentioned it was too sweet for my taste. But probably at the source is better. Cheers!
