Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How are you?
It was a beautiful sunny day here today. I was outside almost all day, until dusk (which came at 5 pm, the day is short these days).
My wife and I were doing some work in the field. But more on that later.

I put two German bottles in the fridge this morning, real Bavarian Oktoberfest beers, the last ones from the Kalea Beer Box (the previous one, haha), and I'm getting a new one tomorrow, which will last me until the end of the year ( I hope 😀).

First the one with less alcohol.

Bischofshof Original Festbier

Brewed by Brauerei Bischofshof, Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany.
Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.4% ABV, IBU N/A.
It's Märzen or Oktoberfest Beer, a malty German lager with restrained bitterness and rich bready malt flavor.

What do the Master Brewers say?

The Original Festbier is a delicately flavoured beer for special occasions. A beer that is not only a hit at the Regensburger Dult. It impresses with its smooth, full-bodied, very clean flavour. The perfectly integrated hops flavour gives the export beer a hint of the exotic. It shines golden yellow in the glass: malty, strong, aromatic. The lingering hop finish makes it a beer to savour and drink on. A beer for special occasions! To friendship!

To friendship, huh? I can just imagine eleven o'clock in the evening and a group of friends raising a toast with a third in their ass, and beautiful Bavarian girls bringing a fourth-round... 😜

The beer is bright yellow, the head is average, creamy, and slowly fading. It smells malty. The sip goes down the throat smoothly, I taste the sweetness of the malt, the aroma of bread, herbs, and a hint of caramel.
A slight bitterness only appears in the aftertaste.

OK beer, fresh and drinkable. The only complaint I have is that it's too sweet for my taste. There is almost no hop bitterness except in the aftertaste. The sweetness is prevalent throughout, not pronounced but it's too much for me. Well, it's not so bad that I couldn't drink it all evening :)
I won't have it in my fridge. Not because it's not available here, but there are several better ones around for my taste...

Beer memes? Not today.
I mentioned at the beginning that I was outside all day because my wife (not me) had the fixed idea that we had to protect the winter vegetables against frost that were left in the field, mainly chicory and winter lettuce.
Last week there was some rain and almost a flood, but for the last two days the weather has been sunny and the wind has been blowing, so the mud has dried out a bit and we have been able to cover what is still growing in the field with a veil.

Hofbräu München Oktoberfestbier

Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 6.4% ABV, IBU 23.
It's Märzen or Oktoberfest Beer, as previously.

What do the Master Brewers say?

The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere.
For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied, bottom-fermented specialty beer. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Still quite strong for a festival beer. Probably something to eat after one or two, if not, it's pretty bad...

The beer is clear yellow, and the head is considerable and persistent, fading very slowly. It has no smell. It goes down the throat smoothly, with a slight sweetness and a slight bitterness on the palate, and a more pronounced taste of bread, hay, and grass.
In the aftertaste, everything disappears quickly, nothing is left.

The beer is okay but without strong flavors. There is a fair amount of alcohol, but I did not taste it. Well, at least not after this one, maybe I would have tasted it more if I had drunk more.
But this beer is nothing special for me, I have tasted better Oktoberfest beers. It's not deliverable here, but if I had to choose between the previous one and this one, I wouldn't choose any for the fridge. Too average.
