A Real Discovery in Egypt - Looks can be Deceiving

Hail to the Hive!

If you ever find yourself planning a trip to Egypt and the Pyramids are on your list of things to do then hear me out as I think this little place is a real gem of a find. A real discovery. Giza is a bit rough and ready and there are a multitude of places that offer close proximity and views of the Pyramids and the Sphinx, but we noticed many had slightly obscured views or noisy traffic in front.

As the Pyramids was a must do on my trip I wanted a place that was close by, very close by so we could get in early and have no transit time or delays getting there. Cairo traffic is terrible.

As you approach the entrance of our little find you are left thinking ‘ errr this looks like a bombsite in Syria’ but we realised after that there are plans for someone to develop that bit and it is next door so don’t allow that to deter you.

We arrived in the dark at 4 am and it did not look very welcoming at all as we were so tired but it more than surprised us and we were super glad we chose the place. These photos are taken in the daylight and the vibe is much better.

At this point we almost felt like we were entering a Pharoahs tomb.

Yup feeling a little Indiana Jones vibe here. Looking for the well of souls!

Ok, through here and upwards we go.

Time to climb! So many thoughts were running through my mind when I arrived here and the anticipation of what to expect is always a buzz and very much lart of the excitement of traveling anywhere.

After several flights of stairs you reach the rooftop. The office, kitchen and eating areas are all located here. You will see this door and it will draw you in towards it and you know the views are going to be there. It’s kind of hard not to supress a smile at this point.

And then you will be as pleased as @millycf1976 when you reslise how close to these Iconic structures you are.

The 7 Pyramids Inn really does have the best vantage point. You can see the 3 main Pyramids and some of the smaller ones plus the Sphinx with nothing obscuring your view. This was something nowhere else we viewed from had. Even directly next door and trees obscuring some ot the view.

@millycf1976 must be channeling her inner Bangles at this moment in time.

I spent many hours up here just looking out. It’s kind of hard not to.

I don’t think this is a llace you should just visit for a day and leave. You need time to soak it in. Being so close makes it easy to olan your days also.

BBA175C6-D04A-428F-9623-4D765857E797.jpeg

As the ticket office is literally 110m away, a one minute walk so it’s so easy to plan your visit and be up early. Opens at 7:30am. Get there early and be the first in. I promise you you will thank me for this advice. As later it becomes incredibly busy, a sea of human ants swarming everywhere. If you go mid week at 7:30 am you’ll be gold! As Gold as a Pharoahs mask.

Also beers are a little hard to find so ask the brothers that run the llace to order some in so when you are back in the evening you can savour a pyramid sundowner in beery Egyptian bliss.

How’s that for a slicemof Egyptian fried gold? Well ice cold Sakara Gold anyway 😉

I've never been to Egypt nor have seen the Pyramids. But when I went to Old Bagan in Myanmar, I've seen a lot of temples that made me feel amazed at how people built all the structures. I would have the same reaction if I saw pyramids in person.

@scubahead Thanks for the good recommendations. I usually like to get up early and take advantage of seeing the tourist sites early in the morning.

I would also have stayed for many hours at the viewpoint of the inn.

What a spectacular trip

Thanks @daveks . I miss this place already, it was so cool to hang out in the area as well. Nice viewing platform when we escaped the bustle of the city. Superb location near iconic historic pyramids. Was fab

I had no idea that there are roads so close to the pyramids. It's a pity that we build infrastructure next to such valuable places, but on the other hand it's easy to get there and you don't need to walk through the desert 🙂

I hope to visit Egypt one day! Thank you for sharing!

Yeah its kind of weird seeing a Pyramid at the end of a dirty back street. Such a weird thing to see in that environment

As I just wrote, and now you present another view. Enjoyed very much to be able to see also the entrance area, which connects the oh so civilized world with the testimonies of previous cultures. !invest_vote

It is also a bit weird in fromt of the entrance as their is a pizza hut and KFC literally 500m from the Pyramids. Crazy
