Khan-el-Khalili & Streets of Cairo: PhotoFeed Contest - Street Photography Round 55

avatar

Finally, I got something from my old folders of pictures to share and participate in Photofeed contest (Mo-Sat: Daily Theme Contests). Click here to get more details on it. I am not a professional photographer but when you have Nikon D40 in your hands, why not give it a try and try to take some good pictures. I did the same when my Eldest bro with his family visited us in Egypt in 2008 and we planned to explore the busiest and most touristic place of Cairo i.e. Khan el Khalili.

This place is considered to be one of the most attractive place for tourist and locals. It reflects the history and is surrounded by many other famous and historic landmarks. It’s the best market to buy souvenirs, antiques and jewelry. They have beautifully designed and maintained this place for tourists, providing them the view of streets as it used to be in old times. Restaurants and coffeshops giving an awesome touch to the streets. There are so many cafes for Shisha which are almost crowded all the time with locals and tourists. I am sharing my experience of the time when I was there and we used to go here once a month to have a good walk and enjoy the culture and traditional food of Arab.

First of all, we visited important Mosque and shrine of al-Hussein, performed prayers there and then went on the streets of Khan el Khalili. It was a hot day so we didn’t spent much time outside and returned back home. I tried to capture some nice views from the car. Some of them were out of focus and some of them were blurry but I got few of them correctly. This is what I believe but an actual professional photographer can give a proper feedback on it.

The Citadel of Cairo, a well-known place and one of the touristic attractions in Cairo. I tried to capture its beauty from the car. It was looking amazing as always, built on a hill for many reasons as described in their history.

I took some pictures of the mosques along the way and then visited the Cairo Tower, which stands tall by the River Nile. Exploring this city is always exciting, and I used to love roaming around; it is eye-catching and looks amazing. I hope it is still the same place as I left it 12 years ago. I enjoyed my four-year stay in Cairo and truly miss the city and its people. They are generous, very kind, and have a strong sense of faith and unity, which is key to their well-developed city and growing economy through tourism.

All above pictures are taken through Nikon D40.
