#STB Coffee Prompt Week 50 | Him another?

Him another?

I arrived one random day at my favorite coffee shop, the one I had been frequenting six months ago. As usual, I got out of the car, the cold gnawing at my bones, and went in search of my precious dark one. I desperately needed it to warm me up and lift my spirits.

I headed as fast as I could to my favorite local, holding my coat with both hands so it wouldn't blow away in the wind that was blowing so hard it seemed to lift people off the ground.

I arrived at the honey-colored cedar door with a carving of two beautiful cups of steaming coffee, an image that increased my craving for a piping hot coffee, the door had a window that went halfway up it, so I could look inside the shop at the people enjoying their coffees and food.

I opened the door and rushed inside the place where a pleasant temperature suddenly enveloped me, I felt the pleasant smell of coffee that invited me to long for a cup of hot dark coffee.

I moved to the spot where Jhon was, the barista I had known since I started attending this place. We had somehow built a friendship, not so close, but one of cordiality and empathy.

As I approached I noticed his whitish, friendly smile welcoming me and inviting me to take a seat. I greeted him with great familiarity and he responded in kind, but I noticed something strange in his demeanor, he was not Jhon who had served me with kindness and camaraderie for six months.

Our trust is not too close to inquire about his behavior so I let the situation pass, I thought maybe he had some difficult problem and was indisposed. His voice snapped me out of my reflective trance. "What can I get you, miss?"

His question left me somewhat puzzled as Jhon already knew what he usually drank, I replied, "the usual."

He looked at me quizzically and smiled again, then he said, "Excuse me, I don't know what you drink, can you tell me?"

I looked at him with some regret, the colors had risen to my face and with some stuttering I said, "a... espresso... macchiato..., very hot and without so much foam."

He smiled, took my order and walked away leaving me completely bewildered. Thousands of ideas were running through my mind and I was trying to understand what was happening. In those hesitant moments I was again interrupted by his voice. "Excuse me, miss, here is your order."

I startled and looked exorbitantly at the man, I said, "Thank you, Jhon."

He turned to me, "Sorry, I don't know you, besides I'm not Jhon, hehehe."

I was wrapped in total bewilderment, I replied. "But, but... I've known you for six months, you're John, you're married and you have two children."

The man began to laugh out loud, while I looked at him strangely, not understanding anything of what was happening. After a few moments he turned to me, "You're talking about my twin brother, I'm Luis, sorry I should have introduced myself, hehehe..."

All the pieces fell into place and I understood everything, laughter invaded me, between embarrassment and confusion. I couldn't stop laughing and Luis accompanied me in the sonorous concert of laughter. After all this Luis explained to me that his brother had not been able to attend due to a health problem and he was replacing him, it was not serious, but he had to rest for a few days.

So I met a new friend and favorite barista and maybe in time he will be able to serve me macchiato in my dining room at home, who knows, anything can happen. Hehehe!!!

Will you believe me if I tell you that I came up with the idea of writing a story based on twins for this challenge? hahaha.... We look like twin minds, huh?

I'm glad I haven't started it yet, you already did it so well 😉

Hehehe... We really think the same way. Although I would have liked to read how you developed the story, surely in that part it would have been very different. Thanks for reading and leaving your kind comment.

Good day.

Wow, this was a great twist with it being a twin. I think I would be more comfortable knowing that was the reason, more than having the usual person make me feel like a ghost.
Nicely written:)))

I liked the ending when she sees that he is his twin brother.

Ha ha ha ha... Twins! That was genius.

It's happened to me several times; I've met a few twins throughout my life, and I can tell they take a certain pleasure in making us guess wrong which is which.

Nice read, @rinconpoetico7 ☕️😁
