Reflections on Life: My Unfulfilled Wishes and Aspirations. || LOHC contest #154

In the hustle and bustle of our fast-paced lives, many of us harbor dreams that often remain tucked away, waiting for the right moment to shine. For me, I wish I could live off the grid, immersed in nature's embrace. It's a dream born of a longing for a mindful life, a deeper connection to the world around me, and the chance to provide my son with a childhood steeped in the wonders of the natural world.

The Urge to Escape

I grew up in the heart of a sprawling city, where the concrete jungle stretched as far as the eye could see. While the city had its own charm, it never quite felt like home to my soul. It was a place of noise, congestion, and ceaseless motion, a far cry from the serene simplicity of nature that beckoned me.

My yearning for a different way of life intensified when I became a parent. I watched as my son, like countless other city kids, navigated a world dominated by screens and concrete. There were no vast green spaces for him to run freely, no clear skies to stargaze under, and no opportunity to learn about the birds, trees, and creatures that inhabit our planet. It was a stark realization that left me frustrated and determined to make a change.

The Vision Unveiled

If I know I will die tomorrow, my first act would be to bid farewell to the city that has held me captive for so long. I would seek solace in the heart of nature, nestled in a rural haven where the cacophony of traffic gives way to the symphony of birdsong and rustling leaves.

I wish I could have the time to build not just a home but a sanctuary for kindred spirits seeking a mindful life. An educational institute would rise from the earth, a place where children could learn the invaluable lessons of life alongside traditional education.

A Community United by Purpose

But this wish extends far beyond bricks and mortar. It envisions a community of individuals bound together by a shared purpose – to live harmoniously with nature, to prioritize what we contribute to life rather than what we amass, and to practice spirituality in our daily existence.

In this world, the relentless pursuit of material wealth takes a backseat to the cultivation of inner peace and the well-being of our fellow beings. It's a place where the race to accumulate is replaced by a collective commitment to enriching lives, our community, and society at large.

Realization & A Race Against Time

As the years pass swiftly (I'm 34 now!), I am keenly aware of the urgency to transform this dream into a reality. While the constraints of the real world may impose limits, my determination knows no bounds. I am saving every penny, planning each step, and nurturing the skills needed to manifest this vision, even if on a smaller scale.

During my visit to 'Zinda Park' in Bangladesh, I witnessed something remarkable. A group of thoughtful individuals had come together to create a thriving community. They built houses, a large park, a school, and places of worship for everyone. Seeing this, I realized that my dream, although it might take time, wasn't impossible to achieve. It inspired me to believe that with the right effort, I could make it happen, whether it's now or in 20 years.

In a world where we are often defined by our pursuits of material success, my dream is a testament to the yearning for simplicity, harmony with nature, and a mindful existence.

If I were to face my last day tomorrow, I would hope that I could leave behind the legacy of bringing my dream to life—a place where people can reconnect with nature, find inner peace, and create a brighter future together.

Such a powerful, moving, and positive energy post! I know your journey was centered around Bangladesh. But it's as if you took a page from the memories of my childhood. I was taught all those things that seem to be just common sense; manners, self sufficiency, respect for yourself and other's. I can't help but feel that our world would be such a better place, if everyone would just practice these simple habits...

Thank you for sharing this enlightening bit of energy and love with us. Love and light ✨

That is a wonderful dream. I hope you are able to take steps to fulfill it in the future. I don't think I can/want to live fully off grid, but I see the initial allure of it.

I'm not sure either if I could live that life as I have always been a city girl. But deep inside I always feel like that's what I need, that's where I belong.
