Lagos and The Heavy Traffic Congestion

This is my entry to this week's #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay I am glad and impressed to be participating. My walk was actually on the Island, Lekki to be precise. Lagos, is known to be the centre of Africa commerce, as well as on of the most populous states in the country with an estimate of 3.4 million individual Lagos Population. This is despite the fact that it is having a small land area. Of the whole cities in the country, it is well known that the wealthiest live on the Island. The Island tend to be a safe and more convenient space for the rich. Even people who lived all their lives on the mainland, once the have the funds, they relocate to the Island.

Consequently, because of the set of people living in this part of the state, it was supposed to less populated. However, the reverse is the case, as there are some certain places in this city that highly populated, among them is Ilasan, Ikate, Marwa, Elegushi, Jakande, among others. Though there are some places that are very cool to live and are less populated. Places that is worth the hype and all, like LERA, Oniru, some part of Chisco.

Traffic congestion is a well known plague in this part of the world, despite how sparsely populated this region is, there is still traffic. That tells us just one thing that there is need for more innovative settings to curb this plague called traffic. I was surprised to see this traffic congestion in Freedom way, Lekki. Trust me sometimes one can spend an hour plus in a traffic that originally should not exceed fifteen minutes. That is how awful it is here.
