7 Days to Go! .:. The Royal Route to HiveBeeCon

Now that #HiveFest is over, I can "shill" the next big Hive gathering, without feeling guilty (Yes, I'm jealous of everyone who was in Mexico! 😃)... Anyways, time to move on, to the second next big thing...

Are you ready for HiveBeeCon, on October 7th 2023??!!

Mark that date and create your plan for how to get there! If I heard it well, there are almost 20 confirmed names that will come, which makes this HiveMeetup one of the biggest after the #HiveFest! If we keep in mind that it was organized 3 weeks ago, that's an astonishing number of Hivians!!!

After my first HiveFest that I attended last year, and numerous small meetups with Hivians all around Europe, this will be my next "big gathering"... Last year in Amsterdam, I said to myself that I would go to the next #HiveFest 100%, but in the end, I didn't make it...🙁 Luckily, #HiveBeeCon was organized and I didn't hesitate a lot of going or not going...

Regarding the distance to Kraków, I will have to make a distance of 2500km, luckily, by plane... 😃 The flight should last around 3 hours, and if I would go by car, it would be probably 3 days (We do a similar road trip route every summer)... Tickets are already bought and I will fly to Kraków airport next Friday morning and stay there until Tuesday in the morning! There was an idea to do the flight with one stop in Venecia and catch another flight to Kraków... It would be a bit cheaper, but more exhausting and riskier as planes can be late and I could miss the connecting flight... This did happen a few times in the past when I had to sleep in Zurich (2 times) and catch the next flight in the morning... No thanks... 🙂

Btw. I'm going to Kraków with my wife and one of the potential issues was transport from the airport to the city center, but we got some good tips from the locals (thanks!)! There is a train that goes directly from the airport to the center and it costs less than 4 EUR, while the taxi would is around 20 EUR and it takes longer to reach the city... We have a very early flight back on Tuesday, but luckily, the train is available even in those hours!

Another big step was to find good accommodation... Usually, I use Booking.com for these purposes and there are plenty of places to stay in Kraków! Don't know when is their "tourist season", but it wasn't hard to find a place to stay... You have hotels and apartments and we went for the second... I don't mind staying at the hotel for a night or two, but for a longer stay, it's much better to stay in an apartment... More space, kitchen, better price, and "buying from locals", supporting a small guy! 😃

We have booked an apartment very close to the main train station and very close to the place where the meetup will be held! All within walking distance!

Regarding the schedule of event(s), it all started from the date of the meetup, October 7th, 2023... The place is at @krolestwo from 2 PM and until who knows when... 😃 There will be workshops from 2 to 6, and after that, we will see what will bring the night... That was the main idea from 3 weeks ago, but in the meantime, additional "events" were organized... So, we will have a visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine on the same day, but at 10:30 AM...

As many of us will come before Saturday, and leave after Sunday/Monday, additional gatherings are organized as I write these lines... Dinner on Friday, maybe city sightseeing on Sunday, etc... I expect a very busy weekend as it was the same in Amsterdam last year... When you meet new friends, you want to spend as much time as possible with them...

I would love to participate in a Hive Fest but until now due to work and family commitments I have never been able to participate but I hope in the future I can.
I did not know that HiveBeeCon existed and I think the more HiveMeetups there are the better.

HiveFest was too far this year and when I was calculating expenses and days, it was just too much... I would need at least 10-15 days and that wasn't possible to do it... With smaller Hive meetups, it is just 2-3 days and there are not than many additional expenses... In return, you get a lot of fun with people who think like you... :)

Mexico was so close to where I am and I still couldn't make it. Kraków would be amazing, but I definitely won't be able to make it due to time and budget limitations. I'm going to try to make it next year :)

Have fun and hang out with lots of Hiveans. I heard @gtg is going to be there. Share stories later.

It's funny that you say that... Last year, at HiveFest, I was exchanging hugs for my wife with @livinguktaiwan! 😃
I will do it again, but maybe it will become suspicious... all that hugging... 😂
