Weekend engagement wk 171 -Love, an act of endless forgiveness

What Peter Ustinov was trying to say in my option was, You cannot love if you do not forgive, nor can you forgive without loving.

What a lot of people call love in our society is not really what love is but lust. Love is not really about feelings or emotions. Love is kind; love is patient; love is forgiving; and love holds no grudge. Love is compassionate.

Why we forgive people over and over again despite how much they have hurt us is because of the love we have for them. You cannot genuinely love without forgiveness. It does not mean the pain goes away immediately. Love is continually forgiving each other's mistakes and shortcomings, no matter the circumstances.

To forgive is to overlook the wrongs and misgivings of others. To forgive is to pardon and write off the wrongs of others, and all these are done out of love.

Love is such a powerful force, and forgiveness is an inevitable accompaniment. If your love life is to prosper, it must be heavily garnished with forgiveness. If your love adventure must thrive, then forgiveness is a tool you must have in your arsenal.

Sometimes, forgiving may appear seemingly impossible, especially if there are grievous hurts suffered; however, it is a path everyone must tread if we are to achieve anything worthy of note in any and every of our life's endeavors. This is because we love in the world of men, and as the saying goes, to err is human, but to forgive is divine. This means that it is natural for humans to err, miss the mark, offend, fall short of their expectations, etc., but it is not within their humanity to forgive.

Humans are naturally prone to retaliation; that is how the average man is wired. However, for man to forgive naturally, as though he were wired and configured to do so as his default way of life, he needs to outsource the assistance of an agency higher and more powerful than himself.
