(Edited)

Five-year-old Melinda ran out with excitement after it stopped pouring. She looked up at the sky with every ounce of anticipation and eagerness, hoping that she would have luck today.

Melinda's grandma has told her a lot about how fascinating rainbows are; she told her they consisted of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet, beautiful colors that formed an arc in the sky, and that rainbows are a sign of good luck. It symbolizes hope, beauty, and promise.

She has never seen any with her eyes. Every time, she would wonder how beautiful it would look in the sky. So anytime it rains, she usually hopes that one day she will also get to see it.

She was disappointed when she looked up, but the sky was clear, and there was no sign of it yet again. She wondered to herself if she would ever get to see how beautiful the rainbow looks. As she was about to go into the house, she heard people from the neighborhood say, "Oh, it's the rainbow. She ran back outside, looked at the sky, and saw it. The sight was more magnificent than what Grandma had told her; she couldn't stop gazing at the sky even when the rainbow had disappeared.
