Today begins the second weekly "Best Author of the Week" contest!

Congratulations to @p1k4ppa10 whose post You never forget your first trip! won the first contest with 44% of the votes!

As the winner of the first contest:

• @p1k4ppa10 will be the largest beneficiary of this post's rewards: 60%
• was placed on the leo.voter curation list from the date of the announcement of his win by @weeklytops until Friday. I remind you p1k4ppa10 that to have a chance of receiving curation you must use the Inleo UI to publish your posts.

The portion of the rewards of this post destined for @odb.contest are 20% but on my own initiative I decided to also reward the authors who were nominated but did not win by awarding each one 2% of the rewards of this post for a total of 6%.

I thank the authors and all the members of Olio di Balena who voted on the previous nominations but now it is time to move on to the new contest.

How does the Top Author of the Week initiative work on Olio di Balena?

Every Friday of each week I will publish a post in which I will announce the winner of the previous contest and select 4 posts published within the Olio di Balena community by 4 different authors.
I will only select posts that are not yet in payout at the time the weekly announcement is published.

My role is and will only be as a selector of posts because it will always be the members of the Olio di Balena community who will choose the Best Author of the week via a voting poll in a thread on Inleo.

Olio di Balena members will be able to vote for their favorite author from Friday until the poll closes, which will occur every Monday at: 10:00 UTC - 6:00 AM EST - 11:00 UTC+1 (Italian time)

Post selection criteria.

Beginning with the second weekly post I will announce the previous week's winner and indicate the new four authors for Odb members to vote on.

In choosing the best posts I will consider multiple elements including:

• the quality of the post: I will not consider posts with less than 500 words (translation for dual language posts will not be considered). I will not consider posts that do not cite sources.
• the level of interaction in the Olio di Balena community: those who wrote 0 comments during the week will not be considered even if they wrote a quality post.
  So if you write great posts but don't respond to the comments you receive on your posts or if you don't read and comment on other Olio di Balena authors' posts you will hardly be selected! ;)

The basic rules to follow for writing posts are the same rules given by @fedesox who is the creator of the Olio di Balena community:

• Italian writing well accepted
• original content
• respect and fairness

To these basic rules I have added selection criteria.

In selecting the best posts I will consider multiple elements including:

Selection Criterion 1: The quality of the post.

• Minimum 500 words.
  I will not consider posts with less than 500 words. For dual language posts, the translated part will not be considered in the word count.
• Citation of sources.
  If you use images that are not your own, you must always indicate the source from which you took the images (image link).
  If the pictures/images in your post are yours you must still include anywhere in your post an indication that they are your own pictures/images.

Selection criterion 2: the level of interaction in the Olio di Balena community.

• those who wrote 0 comments during the week will not be considered even if they wrote a post of Pulitzer Prize-worthy quality.
• if two posts have equal or similar quality the level of interaction will have the most weight in the selection.

Selection criterion 3: A higher score for use of the Italian language.

The Best Author of the Week initiative is open to everyone (Italian and non-Italian) but the use of the Italian language allows more chanches to be selected among the 4 nominations

The reason for this choice is related to one of the goals of Olio di Balena: to try to increase Italian language content on Hive.

If you are not Italian and you are a member of Olio di Balena you are always welcome on Olio di Balena but if you want to have more chanches to be selected as author of the week I suggest you to add also the Italian version/translation to your post ;)

The prizes for Top Author of the Week

Each week the winner of this initiative, the best author of the week, will receive two prizes:

• 60% of the weekly post rewards.
• will be placed on @leo.voter's curation list starting when @weeklytops announces the winners until Friday.
  important note: leo.voter will only curate posts published by the Inleo editor.

Each week the beneficiaries of the "Best Author of the Week" post will always be:

• 60% Author of the Week
• 20% @weeklytops
• 14% @odb-contest
• 6% divided among the non-winning authors

Decentralized curation is a very important step forward for Hive communities and community involvement is very important, which is why it is important that you participate in this process!

In the current week only 5 authors met the selection criteria and in particular I excluded many beautiful and selectable posts because they did not reach 500 words.

To also implement a rotation mechanism this week I excluded from the nominations the post of @p1k4ppa10 only because he won the previous contest but I invite you to read and support his beautiful post in which he shared the celebration (with lasagna baked) of the six months of the beautiful little Samuel: He who is slower to promise is quicker to deliver.
