Apples crumble ❤️ A sweetest recipe.

Good evening hivers how are you? Today I'll tell you in detail the recipe that I decided to bring for the contest of one of my favorite communities:

I am Italian and in our tradition we have many desserts but today I'm talking to you about a dessert that has a particular value for me.

I chose the Crumble because it was one of the first desserts I tasted in England. When I was eleven I went on a study holiday to Brighton, it was a very hard experience for me because I was little, my family situation wasn't the best and my grandparents decided to send me on a trip to get away a little, I was very scared, there was no family member with me only school companions and to make a long story short, I ate little or nothing, I didn't like English food, I wasn't used to it, but one day one some teachers brought this dessert and I devoured my slices, it was delicious and alleviated my homesickness for a while.

The crumble is a recipe that dates back to the Second World War, since the raw materials were scarce and there were rationings, this dessert avoided waste and did not require too many ingredients that were difficult to find, it was a poor dessert, cheaper than apple pie and with a typical crumbled dough.

Furthermore, this dessert also served to recycle overripe fruit that would otherwise have been thrown away. This is also one of the reasons why I chose this recipe because I hate waste!
You can find many versions of the recipe in internet, YouTube and Tik tok, for this recipe I referred to the version I found in most cooking blogs.

There are also variations of this recipe with other fruits and savory ones, it is a very versatile and simple recipe.

We need:
For the dough :

  • 200 grams 00 flour
  • 1 egg
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 80 ml seed oil
  • 8 grams of baking powder
  • 1 lemon peel

For the filling:

  • 700 grams of apples (about 5 apples)
  • Two spoon of lemon juice
  • 1 large spoonful of ground cinnamon
  • 30 grams of butter to grease the pan and cook the Apples.
  • 10 grams of flour for the pan.

Additional:

  • two large spoons of icing sugar for dusting

First let's take care of the stuffing and the apples, peel them and cut them into segments, it will take a while then prepare a bowl to put them in, weigh the necessary sugar on a scale and add it to the apples together with the cinnamon.

Then add the lemon juice, a little is enough and mix everything so that the apples mix with the cinnamon and the rest of the ingredients. Then prepare a pan and cook them in the butter, stirring them often and cooking them for about ten minutes to absorb the butter well.

Now let's prepare the dough, measure the flour, oil and sugar, break an egg and use it all, add the yeast and mix everything together in a fairly large bowl, grate a little lemon zest on top, the beauty of this recipe is that the The dough must not be homogeneous but must have a crumbled effect.

If it doesn't have this automatically, let's help ourselves with our hands while working it. We also prepare a baking tray which we sprinkle with butter first, being careful to butter it all over and then add the flour, finally adding the apples already processed for the filling.

Now that the filling is in the baking tray , let's crumble the dough on top, put it on top of the cascading apples, it doesn't matter if it's inperfect, in fact imperfection is one of its characteristics! As you can see it takes a while and while I was cooking I started watching Grey's Anatomy to keep me company!

Now that our dessert is ready to be baked, let's put it in a preheated oven at 180 for thirty minutes, for the last five we put the oven in high mode so the crust of the Crumble will be crispier, let's serve it with a sprinkling of icing sugar and voilà, the crumble is served!

If you don't like icing sugar you can leave it out if you don't like it, it will still be delicious.
