An open letter to my kids from my inner child

A big shout out to all the children in Venezuela and other kids across the globe who will be celebrating Children's Day today. Happy Children's Day from my kids and me to you all. Here in Nigeria, Children's Day was celebrated on May 27. However, since there is not a particular international date to celebrate our children, the motherhood community picked this one to commemorate our children in the community by coming up with the challenge of the week, which requires that parents write a letter to their kids, talking from their inner kid to their children.

My dear children

Having you kids in my life is the best thing that has happened to me. I love you all, and I want you to benefit from What life has to offer you.. Every second of your life is important and should be valued. Remember, life is given only once and any time wasted is not coming back. There are circumstances in life that try to interfere with the human mind, but do not give negative thoughts to them; always be positive, even in situations that look difficult.

My dear children, life is not a bed of roses at all times. There may be ups and downs at certain stages of your life, but if you want to live a joyful life, do not fill your heart with negativity. There may be difficult phases, disappointments, and rejection; the journey of life might look as if you are walking on a rocky path sometimes. Whatever you may encounter, always remember your source, your creator, and let Him know that you can't walk alone. Ask him for help. He is always waiting for your request. Remember, a closed mouth is a closed blessing. He won't leave you nor forsake you. He will always be there to help you scale through your difficult moments because he loves and cares for you.

My dear lovely sons, do not take anything for granted. Learn to have a grateful heart. Always appreciate any God-given blessings you have. Even if you haven't achieved what your heart desires, be grateful for life. Remember, no blessing is small; can you give yourself life? Of course not. So you are privileged to have life and breath without any support. Also, be mindful of the people you surround yourself with. If you always go along with ungrateful souls, you will end up with complaints and even depression because you will subconsciously contract ingratitude from them and see nothing positive about your life.

Dear sons, patience is a virtue you should possess. Be hardworking and patient. Sometimes you don't get an instant result for your effort or hard work, but that doesn't mean that you wasted your energy trying to achieve a particular goal. Do you know that a farmer plants a seed, and it takes time to germinate before the plant starts bearing fruits? Now,consider yourself a farmer sometimes and exercise patience even with your hard work. It doesn't mean that you should fold your hands and keep waiting; rather, keep working hard regardless of any delay until you achieve your goals.

Remember to let go of your past. It can be past failures or mistakes. Do not dwell on your past losses , just move on, focus on your plans ahead. Life is easier that way. Remove anything that would stand as a burden to you and strive to keep moving forward. You might even discover that better tidings await you ahead.

One more piece of advice, my dear sons: learn to love yourself. Grab self-love even as you care for others. You know your life dreams; work towards achieving them. Do not let them die off, but realise that you can take the wrong steps sometimes. You cannot always win, but in everything, love yourself, forgive yourself when you fail, and keep going. Do not forget to care for others when you can; do not allow anyone to take decisions for you; always know what you want, plan for it, and go for it. Also, do not be the reason why anyone should shed tears; be kind to yourself and to others in word and in action.
