Splinterlands Art Contest week 252 | Tarsa [ENG-ESP]

Happy start of the month! I'm feeling excited right now and it's because of two things: my birthday month started and also because of my entry in another week of the Splinterlands fan art contest.

Today I'm sharing with you a drawing I wanted to do since last week, but for one reason or another I couldn't bring it, but finally I finished it and I'm ready to introduce you this new character.

This time I chose a fire element card, if I remember correctly, it's the second card of this element that inspired me. I must say that it was a new challenge because I had an idea in my head of how I wanted it to look, but I was not sure how to carry out the lighting and texture of the fire... but like any good artist who learns as I go, I dared to draw and give my best effort in this drawing.

The character you see here is called Tarsa. She is a girl who was born with fire in her blood, that is, she is a very powerful character, but don't be fooled by her innocent appearance, Tarsa is aware of her strength and uses it to intimidate and get what she wants, nothing and no one has been able to stand in her way.

Process:

I wanted the character to keep a young and innocent look, so one of the things I took into account was to make her in a schoolgirl outfit, so I looked up some references that helped me to carry out the clothing, which was great because I feel I don't get the finishes I would like on my characters with details like clothing and I need to put a little more practice into that.

I proceeded with the lineart to clean up the drawing. I didn't draw the background because I've found that the idea for the background comes to me along the way and not at the beginning, so I didn't bother sketching it as well.

I continued with the coloring. Once I defined the base colors of my character and some shadows to give volume to the clothes, I colored over him with a darker color and with the layer option in multiply, I darkened it, since in my mind I had the idea that the lighting would be backlit. I had never drawn anything backlit before so this was a new challenge, but I relied on some reference images that made me carry out the lighting.

I continued by drawing the background, that way I would have a better idea of the lighting I would give to the drawing. It then occurred to me to have the background almost covered by fire, following the story of this girl and her incessant need to burn everything. I made a few flame figures using different brush textures and then blurred the layers using the gaussian blur tool, I thought it would make the view focused on the character more than anything else.

Drawing the background in flames would not be enough to show the power of this character, so just like the image on the card, I drew flames on his hands; playing with the layers I made a shiny effect on them, and also did the same with the outline by coloring some areas to make it look natural and according to the setting.

One of my favorite parts of this drawing I would say was doing the lighting, it's the first time I do something like this and I liked it, besides, I can imagine this character on the cover of a book or something, I really like the result.

¡Feliz inicio de mes! Me siento entusiasmada justo ahora y es por dos cosas: empezó el mes de mi cumpleaños y también por mi entrada en otra semana del concurso de fan arts de Splinterlands.

Hoy les comparto un dibujo que quería hacer desde la semana pasada, pero por una u otra razón no pude traer, pero finalmente lo culminé y estoy lista para presentarles este nuevo personaje.

Esta vez escogí una carta elemento fuego, si mal no recuerdo, es la segunda carta de este elemento en el que me inspiro. Debo decir que fue un nuevo reto porque tenía una idea en mi cabeza de como quería que luciera, pero no estaba segura de cómo llevar a cabo la iluminación y la textura del fuego… pero como todo buen artista que aprende sobre la marcha, me animé a dibujar y dar mi mejor esfuerzo en este dibujo.

El personaje que ven acá se llama Tarsa. Ella es una chica que nació con fuego en su sangre, es decir, es un personaje muy poderoso, pero no se dejen engañar por su apariencia inocente, Tarsa es consciente de su fuerza y lo usa para intimidar y conseguir lo que quiere, nada ni nadie se ha podido interponer ante ella.

Proceso:

Quería que el personaje mantuviera una apariencia joven e inocente, así que una de las cosas que tomé en cuenta fue hacerla con una vestimenta colegial, así que busqué algunas referencias que me ayudaron a llevar a cabo la ropa, lo cual fue genial porque siento que no logro los acabados que me gustaría en mis personajes con detalles como la vestimenta y necesito poner un poco más en práctica eso.

Proseguí con el lineart para limpiar el dibujo. No dibujé el fondo porque me he dado cuenta que la idea del fondo se me ocurre en el camino y no al principio, por lo que no me molesté en hacer un boceto de él también.

Continué con el coloreado. Una vez definí los colores base de mi personaje y algunas sombras para darle volumen a la ropa, coloreé por encima de él con un color más oscuro y con la opción de capa en multiplicar, lo oscurecí, ya que en mi mente tenía la idea de que la iluminación estuviera a contraluz. Nunca había dibujado nada a contraluz así que este fue un nuevo reto, pero me apoyé de algunas imágenes de referencia que me hicieron llevar a cabo la iluminación.

Continué por dibujar el fondo, de esa manera tendría una mejor idea de la iluminación que le daría al dibujo. Se me ocurrió entonces que el fondo estuviera casi cubierto por fuego, siguiendo con la historia de esta chica y su incesante necesidad de quemarlo todo. Hice unas cuantas figuras de llamas usando distintas texturas de los pinceles y luego difuminé las capas usando la herramienta de desenfoque gaussiano, pensé que así haría que la vista estuviera centrada en el personaje más que nada.

Dibujar el fondo en llamas no sería suficiente para demostrar el poder de este personaje, así que al igual que la imagen en la carta, dibujé llamas en sus manos; jugando con las capas hice que se viera un efecto brillante en ellas, y también lo mismo hice con el delineado al colorear algunas zonas para que se viera natural y acorde con la ambientación.

Una de mis partes favoritas en este dibujo diría que fue hacer la iluminación, es la primera vz que hago algo así y me gustó, además, puedo imaginar este personaje en la portada de un libro o algo así, me siento orgullosa del resultado.
