They’re Unhealthy

Hello everyone, I’m Oluwatimileyin. This is my first post here on this community. As I was exploring through the community, I came across an interesting topic I could write on. I fell in love with the topic because it’s a challenging one - Two unhealthy habit I have, how they impact upon me, what I could do to break them and Do I even want to😊

Unhealthy habit are things we find ourselves doing or thing we engage ourselves that may eventually have negative impact on our health, be it physically, mentally or emotionally, and may contribute to health issues. Majority of us have some unhealthy habits, like smoking, consumption of sugary food, and some unhealthy lifestyle.

Basically I would be writing about some unhealthy habit I have as a student, I would talk about just few; It’s really easy finding ourselves in some unhealthy habit.

The habit of sleeping so late at night, I love doing somethings at night because it gives me this peace and quietness so I can reflect on my course. Also i applied for an online class and most time I take them at midnight and still wake up by 6am to prepare for class. Friends complain and warned about sleeping late, never knew it was gradually becoming an habit which I was already used to.

Starving myself also has gotten the worst out of me, which eventually made me an ulcer patient, I’m always giving excuses of “I don’t know what to eat” when I have it in mind there’s actually some unprocessed foodstuffs I can cook. I’m a student and my course is really demanding so It’s really not about being lazy to cook, anytime I’m back from class at evening I most times feel exhausted and tired to cook instead i optioned for junks- cornflakes, indomie, icecream, sharwama, potato chips, beverages or pastries. All this are unhealthy food that contains sugar, unhealthy fats and are low in some essential nutrients. Along the line all this became my favorite and an habit that I can’t even do without each day. It got the worst out of me.

It got so serious that I landed in the hospital because of the severe pain in my stomach, migraine and all, I went to the school clinic and I was administered some drugs- Gestid and omeprazole and some other drugs , i was also advised to sleep early, eat good food and never to miss meals especially breakfast

What can I do to break them

After the incident, I got to realized I needed to eat well. I spoke with my parent and they sent me money to get a mini fridge. During a weekend on Saturday morning instead of going to the library as I always do, I move to the market to get some veggies and store some in the fridge. So basically what I do every weekend is to prepare soup and store for the coming week and this has been helping me as a student. After then I restrain myself in taking junks for that moment

Do I even want to

Big yes!!!! I wouldn’t want such to repeat itself, I am glad I was able to get help from the school clinic , my friend and my parents, if not I might be living on junks throughout my stay in school hahaaaa.

There are a lot of unhealthy habit I have although I have improved in some and it’s helping. It’s important to do away with unhealthy habit and replacing them with more healthy choices. It is very essential to our wellbeing and increases longevity.

Thankfully you’re able to find a way around these unhealthy habit. I can relate to the eating disorder cos thinking of what to eat in Nigeria everyday can be such a chore so cooking at home really helps. So sorry you got ulcer too dearie and welcome to the community you’ll love it here 💕
