I consider myself a medium user of Hive, as you say, and I didn't really understand what you tried to explain with the percentages. I think, from my ignorance, that those who want to lower the interest are pushing too much on one side of the scale and this may result in many users, investors in Hive, leaving. This will not have good consequences in the long run.
I am trying to find out more and I would like to be convinced that such a change is necessary.
I see the savings in HBD as a very strong incentive to come to the chain. Generally, users who come in that way end up being very, very involved in everything else. So I honestly see this new approach as nonsense.

The high interest rate motivates to keep HBD and vest it in savings with zero additional value for the network rather than converting it and using as Hive Power. In my opinion, topping Savings with bags of dollars should not be more profitable than curating. It currently is. It actually even makes sense to withdraw earned HP once possible, convert Hive to HBD and transfer it to the Savings, which seems ridiculous to me.
