My Favourite Holiday of the Year

Hello everyone, trust y'all are having a great day.
Across the globe, there are a variety of holidays that are celebrated throughout the year at different times. These holidays give us a chance to take a break from our regular routines, spend time with those we care about, and strengthen our relationships.

In my country (Nigeria), there are holidays like Christmas, Easter , Eid-el fitr, Ramadan, New year, Independence day, Democracy day and many others. Of all the holidays, Christmas is my absolute favourite.

Here are my top reasons why Christmas is my favourite holiday.

The Christmas holiday is celebrated annually at the end of the calendar year. In the most anticipated and widely celebrated holiday with the exception of a few smaller holidays that only require one day off work like Easter and so on. It is usually celebrated on every 25th of December where we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

The season of Christmas is a special time where people travel from wherever they are to reunite with family and friends.
When i was a kid, i always look forward to Christmas, when i could travel back home with my family to my grandparent’s house and spend time with loved ones i hadn’t seen in a while.

Coming back to see Christmas decorations, the food, everywhere busy, everyone cleaning the house together, painting the walls so that the house looks beautiful is a thing that gladdens my heart.

It’s a time for feasting, with goats and chickens being slaughtered and prepared, rice being cooked and drinks being bought for everyone to enjoy.

Christmas also has a way of bringing families back together and repairing any broken bond.
As a family we also receive and give gifts to our neighbouring families. They come over to our house and we feast together and we do same.

During Christmas, we come together as a family and choose a day to spend with the needy and orphans. We go with gift items like clothes, shoes, rice, noodles and other food ingredients. I’m always excited celebrating the season with these kids.

We go to church together for a Christmas service dressed in red and white.
We also visit amusement parks, the beach, the playground and the cinema together.

Christmas is also a deeply emotional time of the year, when family bonds are strengthened and we as family cherish those we have loved and lost, keeping their memories alive in our hearts.

Christmas is usually a lengthy holiday that offers the perfect opportunity to take a step back, reflect on how the year has been, evaluate our successes and challenges and set goals for the year ahead.

When i can’t make it home for Christmas, i feel sad knowing that i will be missing out on all the fun activities and special moment with my family .
