Contributing School Supplies
The long wait is over, at last! Remember when I posted about sponsorship in one of the elementary schools in Southern Leyte, Philippines? It took months before it happened but it's alright, what's more important is the fact that it's here. With mixed emotions, happy, excited and the same nervous. I'm not really good at standing up in the crowd. I've always been conscious of myself being in the center while people watching over me. Still, for the purpose of helping I'd be confident to stand and tomorrow I'd be for sure.
So the school supplies arrived two days ago. I didn't make haste and made sure to distribute it smoothly. The time I received the boxes full of school supplies I contacted the head teacher of that school. When and where, I asked her about distributing school supplies. She replied to do that on Friday because she's busy, maybe she wanted to be part of it as well. It was a good decision of course, I need her to guide the children and to gather the parents. I'm planning to do an orientation before I'll be giving the school supplies. Of course, about the hive and about the ones who sponsored it. A video and images will be shared after it, and better documentation will encourage kind-hearted people to join the donation for future events like this.
I counted the number of notebooks and the pencil cases. I'm happy truly but I thought something was lacking. From my wife's point of view, as a teacher, she said that a writing pad paper is more important instead of notebooks these days. The opening of the class started a few months ago, and expectedly, some students owned notebooks already. Also, she said that students use a writing pad every day so this one will run out first.
So then we decided, I went to a mini-mall to buy a writing pad. I checked the price and found out it was not as cheap as expected. I contacted @chrisrice immediately to ask for help about it. I want to provide each student with one bulk of writing pad or containing approximately 80 leaves. As always, he replied right on, he told me that we just half the expenses in buying the writing pads. I was happy because even though I'd love to help, I need to consider my own budget too. I do not have much money these days, also, I have so many plans for this coming Christmas which is my favorite occasion.
So yeah, the distribution of school supplies will be tomorrow. The teachers there asked me what the title of the program would be. The head teacher suggested that we should hold a program. The title that I picked was, "Sharing School Supplies by Hive and Dbuzz." I will speak about the sponsor of it and of course about hive. I'm hoping to build up a community in this small village. Now, I'm worrying about the food after because when there's an event, food is necessary to show appreciation to people who join the event. Even so, I know this will goes well, I hope so..lol
