Hello Hive

Coming to hive as a newbie can be overwhelming without a guide. This Blockchain/web3 is quite different from the web2 social media apps that are easy for anyone to operate.
Infact coming onboard hive means that you have overcome the onboarding challenges of creating a new Hive account which keeps getting difficult by the day.

These are some of the sign up options which aren't free anymore.
In time past people have enjoyed the luxury of free registration process using hive onboard but that RC has been used up and you need a token to sign up.
The leofinance free signup options using Twitter and others is still undergoing revamp to create the possibility of downloading password and Keys which will enable us to perform other functions on hive.

The next step is an Introduction post

Before this I have often tutored my newbies to subscribe to communities first. This makes it easy for them to post their contents in any community. While Subscribing for communities you get to learn about each communities here.

It is very important to learn about communities and Community rules and regulations. Every contents fits in a particular community and if you need to attract the right audience for your various blog/post it must be posted in the right community.
For instance a diy community is available for all your hand diy projects. A foodies community for different delicacies, diets and nutrition plus the benefits of various food ingredients in the food you have prepared. This is usually a detailed food preparation process keeping in mind the nutrients benefits.

Posting about food in #EarnSpendGive means that you are blogging about the best deal about food from a financial perspective. How to save a little while getting the best meal, not necessary about the preparation process here.

Easy way to subscribe to communities is through hive.blog. login with your hive user name and posting key, the first option to see there is explore community which makes it easy to see all the community names in one glance.

An introduction post depends on Individual. In Web3 you can chose to be anonymous or show yourself, I have seen blogs who have successfully stayed anonymous even in their introductory blogs, just write a quality composition about yourself in the best way to show that you are not a bot. Typical examples of this is found in the Introduce yourself hive community.
A proper knowledge of tags will show you which tags are appropriate to add to an introduction post, we have some like #newbies, introducemyself introduction, introduceyourself etc. Reading through the introductory post of other bloggers will give newbies an idea about what to write, nevertheless with the slightest of education anyone should be able to tell us a vivid description about their personality, character, Careers, Ambitions and Goals Your talents and Offline activities as well.

Explore Communities through Engagements

Hive consist of various communities and without a proper guide anyone can be lost in the ocean. With these rays of communities, newbies are encouraged to visit each communities and check out what the community is about and what contents is acceptable there. By so doing you will discover a nitch and the community where your strength lies.

Hive dApps

These are the front end from which a newbie can blog on the Blockchain.
For instance we have the following

Peakd.com
Hive.blog
Ecency
inleo.io
3speak for video contents.

Newbies can chose a comfortable one they can relate with and blog from that end. Peakd has been found to be the easiest for me occasional I use ecency. inleo.io is the frontend for blogging about finance related matters and 3speak for your video contents.

Be Consistent in your Blogging.

Consistent is the key center of Hive Blockchain, a newbie is expected to make at least 1post daily. Minimum of 2 and max of 3blogs were once acceptable. These blogs should be posted to different communities.
While dropping your blogs you learn and read other authors contents in such communities and familiarize yourself. Your audience determines your visibility and your activities is also a criteria to the connections and subsequent supports that you get.

Hive is first a social media dApp

The social aspect of hive first preceeds it's financial aspect, having this mindset reduces the desperation to earn alot within a short space. I have seen newbies admiring the wallets of olders hivers who have spend years on the Blockchain. The desperation to make quick money had pushed so many newbies into plagiarism .
Some go far to copy a blog they feel were heavily curated only to this exact blogs in their own page .
Just like in the web2 apps, be ready to build a solid fan base through your quality blogs and Verbal Solution creating contents.

Keep doing consistently what you do until you get noticed.

Some might want to consider hive as a job at this point, devoting their time to read at least 50 blogs in a day, reading that takes alot of time but just my vivid illustration as to what you need to input in order to succeed on hive .

Participate in Hive and Hive Community Contest

Participating in contest is one of the easiest ways to get visibility on hive. Hive engagement leagues , weekend activities and community contest in which a question gets thrown to the community for us to blog about. Dropping a random post in communities do not attract more viewers compared to writing the community contest in which the Admins and Mods are forced to notice you and welcome you properly into the community. Active participation in contest and winning these contest will cause as many to follow up on your blogs .

Stake Hive power curate and Support other Authors.

Having seen greedy newbies who aren't ready to build on the Blockchain, their impact isn't known and the little income they make from upvotes soon vanishes when they do not put in any effort to build the Blockchain.

Your HBD payout can be used up while hive has create the avenue for anyone to save and support other authors via Automatic staking of Hive. (Staking of Hive comes as a long term investment for you on the Blockchain with benefits of ROI as 2.9%APR). If other authors do haven't learn to stake hive in form of HP here curation becomes competitive and left only to hive whales, but the growth 📈 of hive Blockchain depends on everyone.
Newbies should have have the mindset of joining older hivers to develop the Blockchain by knowing what percentage of their hive tokens are meant to be traded and what percent they will like to retain over time to both build the Blockchain and also support other hivers .

Undergo the Hiveleaeners Newbies initiative task.

Even as an Older hivers, there are alot of opportunities I have missed and not learnt because this initiative wasn't there when I joined hive. The gaming aspect of hive, some coding needed to arrange your hive text, how to create video contents and lots of other important hive functions are taught in the Hiveleaeners Newbies initiative task.
Newbies should find their way to the community and learn the right way to hive .

In Conclusion.

Having stated all of these, any newbie can get discouraged at this volume, but my counsel is that newbies take things slowly and work at your own pace, with no pressure to compete with anyone or older hivers. Set realistic goals for themselves on how to build their blogs rather first rather than chasing upvotes or how to make huge money in the shortest time

All of hive activities are fun filled, hive is full of social and lively people and while you get lost in the field of interaction with other people, everything comes in place, you learn how to write better reading and interacting with other people. Consider any task as an opportunity to learn and be open to new knowledge at all time.

  • Creativity is of essence learn to take your own photograph been a professional is not a requirement, just a creative pictorial presentation to back up your blogs with time newbies are meant to learn a bit of editing .

  • Avoid plagiarism and state references for whatever materials or pictures used to create your blogs

  • Avoid verbal and abusive conversation with others ,this is not like the X apps, a bit of regulations has giving hive Blockchain some sanity.

Thanks for writing. Good startup information.

I'll be writing my own writeup shortly and then handing out rewards. Hopefully after I explain about the GLD coin and why I'm using it in this community :)

I liked the comment about HIVE not being X or other social media where verbal abuse is way more common. I don't there there are regulations against flaming someone on HIVE but it serves no useful purpose and costs you money so why do it?

Side note: If rewards for this post prompt seem delayed its birthday party coming up so I might be a bit busy with IRL stuff but let others know rewards will be coming :)

Pretty sure it would spoil by the time the post office got it to your location ;)

That does give me a thought though. Are small cakes, pieces of cake, or maybe muffin/doughnut common there?

Maybe on the community's birthday I should make a birthday cake mission where I pay members to enjoy a piece of cake on me :)

Hahaha

You see alot of people add chemical preservatives in their foods not minding the consequences. I once heard of a couple who preserved their wedding cake until a year later at their anniversary. The cake was still edible after a year, can't say if this is true or there are anything as such.

I only said that jokingly and didn't mean to give you a second though..
Nevertheless there are cup cakes , doughnuts and all of the floury things here too 😅😅😅.

You have the community at heart and almost thought/look forward to an anniversary already, I admire that about you.
