Antique and Baroque Music Festival - a concert, an orchestra and several young soloists!

Saturday was a perfect day to fill it with music. Though it was a beautiful sunny autumn day that could have been spent somewhere in the mountains, as I planned just a few days earlier, we got a different experience to live. My son reminded me on Friday that he would have a concert the next day with the orchestra. Fine, he had many of those already, we could say not a big deal, but what is really different this year is that he is many times the soloist.

It brings more responsibility as you can't just hide your voice or your music wrapped in the full sound of the orchestra. If you are a soloist, all the eyes are watching you and all the ears are listening to you. Scary, huh? Well, not really, if we know how to manage stage fright. It is an emotion that can be overcome with a bit of work.

This time he had the role of soloist in one of the compositions that the orchestra prepared. The event was held in the main church in Altea, and it was the first concert in a row of three at the festival titled Antique and Baroque Music Festival. (in original Festival de Música Antiga i Barroca).

going to the venue - the church with blue domes

My son was already there having a rehearsal for three hours before the concert started. When you play in an orchestra it is common to have these long rehearsals. Sometimes you are already tired but the show must go on, as Freddie would say. The concert, the audience and the music bring the adrenaline and the energy needed for the performance.

The interior of the church is very nice, splendid! The dome was illuminated and the main altar was giving golden vibes. This was the moment when I entered the church... The people were just arriving.

Of course, we didn't find a place in the front row anymore. One has to come a lot earlier to reserve a seat, but I made my way to the side, from where I could see that little orchestra.

The concert started with the composition Arrival of The Queen of Sheba by Handel. A very nice one and perfect for the opening. It was followed by Antonio Vivaldi and Concerto in A minor for flute, violin and basso continuo. Another Vivadi composition was the Concerto in G major, for oboe and bassoon. We enjoyed an excellent performance, the soloists were former students of the conservatory in Altea.

The musicians and the audience got a little break before the concert continued with Sarabande in D minor by Handel. Vivaldi closed the concert with two compositions. Concerto in C major for cello and as the last piece, Concerto Grosso in A minor for two violins. There was Mipiano Junior with a friend playing the main role.

I made several short videos, but also wanted to enjoy the concert without distractions. I am sharing just one movement of that concerto, not to bother Hive people here with long video footage. Everyone played very well, but you have to know that I was especially proud of one young musician there. 😇

Haha, having eyes on you when on a music performance can be so filled with nervousness, I'm not sure I could withstand such a test unless i am extremely good in what I do.

I so much love the performance form this video. Epic and notch ❤️ that's an amazing one

Yes, but we learn it in the end, how to overcome stage fright! :))

Thank you, I am glad Vivaldi's music came to this corner in the performance of these young people 😇

It's wonderful, what a beautiful show. In that beautiful church the acoustics must be perfect. I think that your pride as a mother should give you many broadcasts, good for Mipiano Junior. Vivaldi's music is enough to make you think of paradise. Don't worry about the mountains, they are not going to move from there another day, they could even go for a walk with the family.

And there were a lot more compositions, all baroque style and proud mothers sitting in the audience 😇 Well, and half of the town too - the church was full!

Yes, mountains are there, waiting for us to come or not. Maybe they would even come to listen to the concert 😁

I also have students who play in the orchestra in my school and they take so much time
It can actually be annoying sometimes but it is very cool
Kudos to your son

This is my kind of event. I've been to 4 concerts this year, all held in an Evangelical church, but none of them were of this size, always one, max 2 musicians.

Congratulations to the young musician and the proud mother, it means the world to see your son playing as primo violino. Thanks for the video, I hope you made an audio of the concert. I always record the concert 😀

Thank you, it indeed means the world seeing him in this role now, though I am used to seeing him playing in concerts and competitions.

Soon he will participate in a project with an orchestra from Frankfurt, so they will have one week every day rehearsals in the morning and afternoon, and then two concerts. But there he will not be in the first row hahaha, but I think it will be a great experience.

Let me guess, the young musician you were so proud of ... uhm ... is his name 'Ernie', my roomate?

How did you know??

Yes, Ernie, he grew a bit taller, and it doesn't matter if he is your roommate or bro actually. But yes, you guessed. Congratulations 😋

What a beautiful venue for that kind of concert. I imagine the excitement of seeing and hearing your son as a soloist. Even if he does it often I think the thrill of seeing him must be similar each time . The violin is a beautiful instrument. Thank you for letting us listen for even a few minutes and for sharing such beauty. Happy day.

It's always an excitement, that is true.

When he was small - because he was cute with that violin 🎻 :D

Now, when he is already taller than me - because he is still cute with the violin 😁. And because he is playing well 😊

Thank you, and happy day to you too!
