My take on preparation for self-defense || LOH contest #163

Risk situations for women are common. Do you feel prepared to face physical and psychological threats? What do you think about a woman preparing for self-defense and what criteria do you think they should take into account to avoid being paralyzed in imminent danger?

For this week's contest, we're really going in on the safety of the ladies because we need to be safe when we're alone and not in a community or with persons that can safeguard us basically. The topic of self-defense is particularly important for women since they are typically seen as the weaker ones and well, if I may, I'll use the word prey for the predators. I remember watching a tiktok video of a lady crying and lamenting because she was hit on the face with a brick by a guy she refused to give her number to. According to her, nobody came to her aid or questioned the assaulter on reasons why he should have done that simply because a person exercises her rights of refusing to your request. Anyways, back on track....I think, that if she was prepared or had taken self-defense classes, it possibly would not have been that bad.

Personally, I wouldn't say I feel prepared to take on physical threats because well, you can never really be prepared for accidents or whatever that is coming since you don't know. But you take the classes you can, the lessons you can and pray that such hazards do not come your way because it is never nothing to want. Psychologically, well, I feel more prepared than for the physical. Because my mind is really something I've worked on and though self development is an ongoing thing.... building your mind is something that never stops, I can only say that I try to be prepared. You can never really be prepared for anything but just try to be so that if it comes, you Know how to go about it.

I think women should take self-defense classes. Take it to prepare yourself just incase of necessity. So, that when danger stands in the way...even if you can't fight it, you know how to avoid it. Now, taking self-defense classes does not mean that you bully others you feel that have not taken or are weak but you take it, just to be safe. Side note: Always remember that for self-defense, the damage done must be proportional to the one received. So, you don't stab a person who just touched you inappropriately and well, it's not even logical that you only slap a person who hit you real bad.
To avoid paralysis while facing danger, try to be calm...it's going to be hard but being not calm would only cause more trouble and give the person attacking you leverage. So, you try to show calmness and confidence while being assertive of your options...be it fight or run. If you can run, please run and don't try to practice your self-defense moves. We'll try that next time. Carry self defense tools will be nice too. You can look for tools that you find suitable and handy for you. Be safe out there.

It is just as you say, learning to defend yourself does not mean attacking another, it means being able to create the opportunity to defend yourself if you need it and being able to flee from danger. HUGS
