The Scheduling Nightmare: Which Party To Crash... I Mean, Attend?

It's funny how some people get many invites to parties that will happen in one day or within close time and requires a lot of expenses even from the attendee. I've not had a time where I'm invited to more than two occasions on same day but once I had two parties to attend, it was easy to decide.

Even though I'm not the party lover or one who lits up a party like some are, my mere presence is appreciated by those I've attended their parties in the past. It's why I think getting an invite from a family or friend is not one to joke with or consider lightly, more invites means more considerations.

I don't know about other countries but from what I've learn about some parties I've attended, more than the presence of some persons, the thoughts and presents are appreciated just as much. With a lovely wish phone or video call, a beautiful present sent and a promised future visit, it's a go.

In some parties, I may not do much at all aside just sitting quietly, smiling or waving to the celebrants, it may be a lot for them but if I had too many choices, I'd rather give gifts than do that. I know this may all sound like an excuse to not attend two of these parties but I don't mind.

"A wedding of my cousin" is an important day for my family but mostly for my distant relatives, and sadly, I'm not very close with many of them because of the distance we all live at. But I once attended the wedding of my cousin and it felt more like a family get together than a wedding.

Weddings are a once in a lifetime thing so it is worth making it a great event but it doesn't necessarily means, every single person must attend to make it a great event. I'll love to attend my cousin's wedding but with another event in place, I'd send in my wishes and gifts instead.

"A wedding anniversary of my best friend" is a beautiful invite, celebrating again a love once celebrated. While I can't say I have a best friend, I do have close friends that I would be super happy to attend their anniversaries. It's also like a forum to connect with them on their happy days too.

But with another event in plan, I can explain to them my reason for not attending and could even plan a day to visit and spend time with them if they'd appreciate that. Anniversaries can be done every year anyways, I could attend their future ones if God is faithful to keep us all alive till then.

You could have guessed already, I'm choosing to attend my family reunion among the three options, for many reasons I may not even be able to mention but the most important reason is, I've never had any experience of such with my family. It has always been just me, my siblings and dad.

A chance to reunite with my mum in a grand party, I can not miss it for anything. It is an important event for me that I believe will change a lot about how things have been before it. And I'd be happier and free to enjoy myself at a family reunion even as I don't enjoy partying that much.

I love my cousin and I'm super happy for my best friend's wedding anniversary but I prioritize the rare family reunion I've always wished and craved for, to happen. This doesn't make any invite less.
