Spirit Night Celebration

Last September 7, our student government finally organized the Spirit Night! Last year, it was canceled due to the rise of high cases of covid 19 in Bacolod, thankfully, this year, it was pushed through by the student Government.

Hello again, Hivers! It’s me again and my school related blog against the world!

Spirit night was actually kind of an acquaintance party but without the interactive events. It was just full of performances of different strands and tracks. It is an annual event in our school but it was postponed in the last 2 years because of the coronavirus.

This year, the theme was “Beats on the Street” and we were told to dress up as if we were in the 1990's to 2000 (y2k kind of style).

In the morning, we were told to attend a mass and an orientation which is not related to spirit night, but it was still crucial since the admins gave us instructions for the visit of some important people in different organizations. I even arrived late and was not able to eat my breakfast, so I decided to grab some onigiri since it is the easiest food to hide and eat at the same time. Thankfully, the orientation ended around 12 in the afternoon which gives us 4 hours to prepare for the spirit night.

Me and my friends who live far from our school decide to use our spare time for some other stuff since it would be a hassle if we go home. We went to 888 since they have many thrift stores there. It was so fun! I wasn’t able to go to thrift stores for ages and even forgot how pretty the clothes they sell. We went to three (3) thrift shops but I was only able to buy 2 clothes from the first thrift store we went to. I just bought a white polo shirt which I am finding for how many months already, it is a good staple since I can wear it like a cover up or just as is, second was a puff sleeve top which is in the color white but the textile is kind of shiny, my friends literally forced me to buy it so I did, I didn’t regret buying it though.

After thrifting, we went back to our school and prepared for the event. We took pictures while some of my classmates took tik tok videos. I also attended a meeting for my publication right after I’m done preparing.

After the meeting, since we still have so much time before the program starts, we grabbed food in the school’s food court. I bought pizza, fries, and of course, choco siopao!

Upon entering the venue, we were welcomed by loud noises created by the students. It said that all of us were really excited for the event. However, during the event proper, it is evident that we only have limited time since the admins have only given us 2 hours maximum. Still, the time limit did not hinder us from enjoying the event. As the production team of every strand and tracks performed, we danced and sang with them in rhythm! My voice were literally gone after the event.

Despite the time limits, I can say that the event was really superb! The student government as well as the performers was able to pull it off even with the limitation of time.
