LOH Contest #233 A Cat I fell in love with / Un Gato que me enamoro (ENG / ESP)
Greetings dear community,
I am here today to share with you my experience collecting things from the cat I fell in love with in my adolescence, Garfield.
Collecting things is given by a psychological and emotional factor, which sometimes is also driven by society, which makes people feel attracted to collect any kind of objects.
When we collect we connect with important moments of our life, of our childhood or youth, they are like a time capsule that can provoke feelings of nostalgia or joy.
In my experience, I have several hats, but it is not because I collect them, but because I get them as gifts or I buy them as souvenirs, also at one time I had many shoes, wallets and books. But to say that I really was a collector of all that, I had to have an emotional attachment, memories or a connection to the past and I didn't.
My favorite character:
As a teenager, my favorite character was Garfield the cat, an iconic fictional character that has been featured in comic strips, TV series and in movies, in many parts of the world and was created by cartoonist Jim Davis in 1978.
His popularity has made his image to be commercialized in different products, that's where my passion for this characteristic friend turned me into a Garfield Lover collector.
This orange tabby cat, known for being lazy, hating Mondays, being sarcastic, cynical and selfish, characteristics that do not identify with me at this time, however in my adolescence I loved to see his witticisms. Something that I do identify with, is that like me, we are lovers of lasagna, in my country it is called pasticho, a dish that fascinates me.
I don't really remember exactly why I started collecting Garfield stuff, I used to buy everything that had his image, and as an adult it was a tradition in December to buy the next year's agenda, I got them from 2002 to 2008, then I didn't get them anymore, which made me very sad, for me it was a great emotion to have Garfield with me all year long ordering my projects, my daily life and more.
Completing the collection of the Happy Box toys was a personal satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. The excitement of looking for or finding a piece and having them became a reference point for me, because not only did I buy them, but my friends and family already knew what to give me.
I had stuffed animals, toys, clothes, handbags, which I no longer have because of their deterioration, however I still have with me, the agendas, notebooks, albums, caps, labels and cards, bookmarks and rulers, stationery, bags, towels, the only toy that remained was my magnifying glass and the poster that a secret friend gave me as a gift.
When my daughter was born and grew up, she took over the toys and stuffed animals, I bought her a little chair and even her lamp. I have a cup too but I don't have it on hand to share it with you right now.
Garfield had a companion, Odie the puppy and his owner was Jon who he always teased. I love cats and I am a cat grandmother but I wish I had an orange one.

Estoy hoy por aquí para compartirles mi experiencia coleccionando cosas del gato que me enamoro en mi adolescencia, Garfield.
El coleccionar cosas viene dado por un factor psicológico y emocional, que a veces también es impulsado por la sociedad, que hace que las personas se sientas atraídas por coleccionar cualquier tipo de objetos.
Cuando coleccionamos nos conectamos con momentos importantes de nuestra vida, de nuestra infancia o juventud, son como una capsula del tiempo que nos puede provocar sentimientos de nostalgia o de alegría.
En mi experiencia, tengo varias gorras, pero no es porque las coleccione, sino porque me las regalan o las compro como recuerdos, también en una época tenía muchos zapatos, carteras y libros. Pero para decir que realmente era coleccionista de todo eso, debía tener un vínculo emocional, recuerdos o una conexión con el pasado y no era así.
Mi personaje favorito:
En mi adolescencia, mi personaje favorito era el gato Garfield, un personaje de ficción icónico que se ha presentado en tiras cómicas, series televisivas y en películas, en muchos partes del mundo y que fue creado por el dibujante Jim Davis en 1978.
Su popularidad ha hecho que su imagen sea comercializada en diferentes productos, es allí donde mi pasión por este característico amigo me convirtió en una coleccionista Garfield Lover
Este gato atigrado color naranja, conocido por ser perezoso, odiar los días lunes, ser sarcástico, cínico y egoísta, características que no se identifican conmigo en este momento, sin embargo en mi adolescencia me encantaba mucho ver sus ocurrencias. Algo con lo que si me identifico, es que al igual que yo, somos amante de la lasaña, en mi país se le llama pasticho, un plato que me fascina.
Realmente no recuerdo exactamente porque comencé a coleccionar cosas de Garfield, compraba todo lo que tuviera su imagen, ya más de adulto era una tradición en diciembre comprar la agenda del próximo, las tengo desde 2002 hasta 2008, luego no las conseguí más, lo que me produjo una gran tristeza, para mí era una gran emoción tener a Garfield todo el año conmigo ordenando mis proyectos, mi cotidianidad y más.
Completar la colección de los juguetes de la Cajita Feliz era una satisfacción personal y una sensación de logro. La emoción de buscar o encontrar alguna pieza y tenerlos se fue convirtiendo en un referente de mi persona, porque ya no solo los compraba, sino que mis amigos y familiares ya sabían que regalarme.
Tuve peluches, juguetes, ropa, bolsos, que en la actualidad no los conservo, por su deterioro, sin embargo aún tengo conmigo, las agendas, los cuadernos, los álbumes, las gorras, etiquetas y tarjetas, marca libros y reglas, papelería, bolsos, toallas, el único juguete que quedo fue mi lupa y el afiche que me regalo una amiga secreta.
Cuando mi hija nació y fue creciendo, se apoderaba de los juguetes y peluches, le compre una sillita y hasta su lámpara. Tengo una taza también pero no la tengo a la mano para compartirla con ustedes en este momento.
Garfield tenía un compañero, Odie el perrito y su dueño era Jon de quien siempre se burlaba. Me gustan los gatos y soy abuela gatuna pero deseo tener uno naranja.
