Wow, that sounds like Legião Urbana to me. Do you know Legião Urbana? It was a very famous rock band in Brazil. It sounds a lot like Renato Russo singing in Spanish, Renato's voice is just deeper. Listen to Legião Urbana - Faroeste Cabloco/ Legião Urbana - Geração Coca Cola. I'm sure if you haven't heard it you'll like it.

João Gilberto and Marcelo Camelo are very cool. Most of the other bands here are considered commercial. But Forfun has some really cool songs like Morada. Charlibe Brown Junior no longer exists, because vocalist Chorão died of an overdose a few years ago.
Also listen to Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Maria Gadu, Elis Regina, Tribalhistas, Wilson Simonal, Tom Jobim, Tim Maia, Gilberto Gil, Raul Seixas, Belchior, Novos Baianos, Vinicius de Moraes, Zé Ramalho.
