The Myth Surrounding Females With Facial Hairs

avatar

Hello community people, hope you all are doing great and enjoying the Easter holiday. It's the 39th edition of the #hivenaijaweekly contest and both topics are really interesting but one debunk a myth really got to be because I'm somehow involved, hehehe.

We know that there are so many myths in existence which I'm sure you've heard about one or two of them. Some are popular while others are not so popular.

Before I proceed let's look at what a myth is

Literally, a myth is a misconception, a widely held belief or idea which is actually false.

Every culture or society has a myth that is peculiar to them and such myths were handed down from one generations to another and one of them is;

Females With Beards Are Wicked Or Harsh

I'm sure most of you have heard about this misconception and because of that are skeptical about relating with females with such traits. I won't fault you because I also heard it countless times. Some have even shared their so called ugly experiences with such females. I wasn't there so can't say whether it's true or not but one thing I want to point out is that this belief is balderdash and the biggest lie of the century, lol.

Now read this

The reasons behind facial hair or beard on females is due to a condition called hirsutism. This hirsutism is a genetic disorder which causes excessive hair growth in the female's nine body areas.

It's high time we stopped seeing females with such features as wicked, harsh, or abnormal. If we continue with this belief, what then would we say about those who do not have beards but display acts of wickedness too.

I'm not disputing the fact that there aren't those who have such tendencies to behave such way, probably due to the excess testosterone in them, but generalizing it is unfair. This can make such females have low self esteem because they are afraid of how people will treat them. Some can even cause harm to themselves in a bid to find a way to stop it from growing

Also there is nothing abnormal with females who has facial hairs neither does it have anything to do with their character or behavior, it is purely genetic disorder.
Infact they are unique and special breeds, kindness personified, loving and accommodating. Take that to village people, lol.
Not only that, they are strong, bold, defiant and independent women.

Now if you say that females who has facial hairs are wicked, it therefore means same for men, after all the hair grows at same place. But no one would want to believe this because after all, it's a man's world.
I'm guessing the reason behind this myth is because people of old might have felt intimidated by the honor given to females with facial hair.
In ancient days, it was recorded that females grew beards just for piety and sexual purity, and as a result they were celebrated for it. You can read more here
So you see how devoted facial haired females can be.

Let me burst your bubble about a bearded female that you and I know on Hive, hehehe. Her name is
@luchyl, lol.

Yes she has both bear bear and chest hair and super proud of them. Although she usually trims the beards but now has decided to allow them grow. She's not not perfect and have flaws but being wicked is less of who she is. Well I can confidently say that she is amazing, loving, kind and an emotional person but she can square you up if you try messing up with her.

Of a truth some of the bearded females that I have come in contact with have actually proven to me that such myth about them is absolutely untrue.
My aunt - mother's immediate younger sister and my elder sister also have beards, I think it runs in my mother's family because most of the females have it. I cannot match them with being kind most especially my aunt. That woman is just too kind to a fault and it was because of her that I disabused my mind from this myth about facial haired females being wicked.
Another person is a female corps member I met during my service days. Her own is even on the neck and chest, but this lady is just too good, jovial and accommodating. She can give you the last money on her with all joy.

So before you say or believe that I and others like me are wicked or harsh, also know that there are those without it who are wicked too.

Thank you for reading, your comment is highly appreciated.

Thank you from taking out time to debunk this myth because I heard it a lot and it made me weary of females with facial hair.

But like you stated, the females without hair also do more wicked things.

We should try and get to know people before before we cast judgement.

Exactly, there are many myths we've grown up believing just like this one. I was really scared of how people will treat me when I noticed the hairs coming out. I was always conscious of it and will rush to cut it off once I see even a strand, but not anymore. I'm even grooming them now, lol. 🤣

I appreciate your contribution greatly.

I've heard of this myth a lot of time and it's interesting to see people who believe such thing to be true. It's like what is said about short ladies. People say they are stubborn. However, I genuinely know that humans are too complex to be generealized just like that.

Whether a lady has facial hair or not, that doesn't affect her attitude. A decent lady is still a decent lady.

You know the only thing I wouldn't agree with in your post? The place you mentioned that "it's a man's world". Haha. It's really not anybody's world. Not a man's world and surely not a woman's world either.

This topic is actually interesting. I'm trying to start a podcast. I wish I can have you as a guest sometime in the future so we can dig into a lot of myth which people believe.

If we believe all the myths we hear, then everyone will be a culprit, hehehe.
I presume these myths came as a result of one's experiences and as they share it with others, they now tend to believe it and then make reference to it.

It's really not anybody's world. Not a man's world and surely not a woman's world either.

Sure I know, the world belongs to no one except the creator. We are only tenants here.

Wow, this is good news. That will be an honor and hopefully I will be available by then. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

But why are most of them wicked, I have come across 4 different ladies with beards and they were all wicked and strong hearted

I wouldn't know exactly what transpired between you and them to warrant the wicked actions so I can't really answer this. You know one thing with our mind is that when it's conditioned towards a particular thing, every other thing now revolves around it.
Just know that anyone can be wicked whether bearded or not.

I appreciate your contribution greatly.

It's true it's just a myth, we all grew to believe it, I even use to avoid ladies with facial hair, and till now I want to separate myself from such superstition.

Thank you for debunking the myth 👍🌺, you look nice with tour facial hair though

We were just ignorant of the fact that they were just myths and shouldn't be believed but it's good that our orientations are being changed by finding out the truths
Thanks for your time here.

I personally think that these so-called myths like this one, and that if people that sweat on the nose, are subtle ways to discriminate people.

I love how self-aware and how much self-esteem you have in yourself. You scattered the walls of this myth like the world of Jericho. I found this gem on Dreemport.

are subtle ways to discriminate people.

I agree with this and that's why I said it's probably people were intimated by these special breeds, because I don't get how someone's attitude will be judged based on their features,

I love how self-aware and how much self-esteem you have in yourself.

Awnnn, thank you. It wasn't easy at first but I made up my mind not to allow what people think make me be less of who I am and now I rock it with pride. Let them talk, hehehe

You scattered the walls of this myth like the world of Jericho.

And you equally scattered my dada with your comment, lol.

I appreciate your visit and every beautiful word written here. It's uplifting. Muchas gracias 😅

I guess females that have hairy faces and chests are mostly found in the east than the North or south but I have never heard of such misconception before. Those who wants to be wicked will be wicked not necessarily those with hairs on their faces.

You're right. A wicked person is wicked not because of their body features but their nature. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I remember hearing something like this while I was growing up but I have came across ladies with facial hairs that are not only beautiful but so kind-hearted. Some of the things we were taught while growing up are myths and I am glad you debunked this particular myth because there is no truth to it.

I love it when people debunk myths and cut through the nonsense while handing everyone a good dose of common sense! Lovely pics too, @luchyl. You made a clear case for sense and sensibility hehe. !LUV

I dropped into Dreemport this evening to read your post.

You know we've lived in deceit, lies and even in fear for generations due to all these myths and it's high time we learned the truth.

This was possible because I was involved and it sounded like I was even ranting, hehehe.

I appreciate your visit, these kind words and compliment. They gladden my heart.
