Spending A Weekend With No Phone.... W.E WEEK 183

(Edited)

I welcome you all back to my blog again. I hope you are getting ready for the festive period.

There's no doubt that in recent times, there has been an ever increasing usage of mobile devices due to the more perks and applications which are constantly being built in them. You will find most people spending hours with their phones either chatting, creating contents, having business meetings, calls, taking photographs, doing skits and the rest.

For some people having to stay a day not to mention a weekend without their phones may be a very difficult task to complete while some others will jump at the slightest opportunity to do so. For me I go with - a little to the left and a little to the right because I have tried both which of course I gained and lost too.

We all know how fun, exciting and adventurous some weekends can be due to the many activities involved like a visit to the park, cinema, music or laughter shows, events etc, and no doubt there must be lots of photos to take coupled with snapchats, reels, tik tok videos which definitely will be shared right in our social media handles. I'm a photo freak, although not sure if I'm photogenic, well I leave you to answer that, lol.
Being without a phone at such weekend activities will definitely not be a wise decision as I may miss out on capturing some memorable moments, photos which I will have need for in the future.

My phone serves as my second office. I work with it twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. This is because I need to attend clients, reply to inquiries, take advert orders and book them for onward broadcasting. Not only that, when I'm on the go, my phone comes in handy for monitoring adverts. Most weekends are even busier as more orders usually come in and I need to coordinate all these with my phone since sometimes I do not go to the office, so imagine staying without a phone during one of such busy weekends, it will affect my work so much. I can remember one weekend my phone developed fault and wasn't powering up, did all I could to make it work to no avail. I had no choice but to wait till the weekend was over to take it for repairs. Although I tried to accept what happened and take my mind off it but it wasn't easy because it really spoilt all the plans I had for the weekend including some businesses I missed.

I use weekends to try my hands on some food recipes and while doing that I love capturing them, which of course will be used for my blogging or to keep memories alive.

Again being on Hive, my usage of phone has increased more as I need to create contents, engage with other user's contents, participate in contests especially weekend contests on threads so staying without a phone will mean that I will miss the contests and publishing posts.

Although being without a phone for the weekend has various challenges, there are equally some benefits to it;

It gives one the opportunity to spend quality time with family, chatting and catching up on how the week went, playing games like chess, ludo, taking a walk or even exercising, which of course is for the body's general well being.

It can help one recover from stress of the week. I remember one time I had a busy and stressful week such that I almost broke down. Weekend came and I posted in my WhatsApp status that I won't be available for that weekend and went ahead to keep the phone far away. All through that weekend I stayed off from work or any other thing that will increase the stress and concentrated on ways to recover. I found that doing that helped a great deal in rejuvenating me and I was back to my feet the following week.

Finally it gives one the opportunity to have a quite me - time either meditating, praying, writing / research work, or reading books of interest which may not ordinarily have been possible due to numerous distractions that come with being with a phone.

Final Words

Just like spending the weekend with a phone has the good and bad side, same it is with being phoneless over the weekend. Whichever works for you, just go with it.

This is my response to the Weekend-Engagement topics: WEEK 183

Thank you for reading.

I don't know if I can stay a weekend without my smartphone. But I can't stay without a phone at all, my small phone is always with me.

I agree with your points, there are so many benefits of staying off our smartphone.

I have just one phone and it works round the clock, sometimes I pity the phone sef and usually allow it to rest for some minutes before we continue the hustling 😂

You really can't be without your phone o. The hustle is real but just like you said, it depends on the individual and what works for them.

Happy New week sis

Hehe, spending the weekend without my phone? Well, I'd had to buy a camera first. I know that I wouldn't be working or writing posts with the camera but I'd still capture great memories.

Sometimes, this breaks are really necessary to prevent breakdowns like you rightly said.

Indeed sonetimes there's need to take a break and relax the eyes, brains and body.

Well, you are photogenic with the images I have seen in your posts. For many people whose work is done on the phone, it is difficult to stay without it for the weekend because it is what brings food to the table and engages in other activities on the phone. I wouldn´t feel comfortable if I am not with my phone throughout the weekend except it has a fault which would make me wait for it to be repaired. But it won´t be easy. Lol

You are right, we need the phone to make a living and staying without it for a weekend may lead to losing some jobs.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

Phones are like our sidekicks, especially for work and creativity. But going phoneless has its perks, like family time and stress recovery. It's all about finding what vibes with you. Keep

It's all about finding what vibes with you

Exactly, just like I said do what works for you. We all need our phones to do certain things but sometimes it's good to keep them aside and focus on other things.
I appreciate your contribution

It is quite difficult to stay away from our phones due to day to day activities we use it for. Apart from hustling there are sometimes we feel down and the only way to cope is scroll through some motivating content online. I'm not even going to bother sugarcoating it, I can't do without my phone for a day not to talk of a whole weekend 😅
