This is something I have mentioned happening a few times. I like testing new things and an onboarding contest is definitely worth a try.

The title says it all. Its an onboarding contest with prizes for the outstanding onboarders. 😎
We are always looking for new users, new musicians and new ways to spread the word about this wonderful place.

So lets see how this goes. Shall we?

REWARDS💰:

1st: $300 USD

2nd: $200 USD

3rd: $100 USD

4th: $100 USD

We will set a minimum of 3 musicians onboarded for any of the above prizes. I think thats fair and doable.

RULES✔️:

  • Will run till June 1st.
  • You will use your ecency referral link (replace my name with yours):
    https://ecency.com/signup?referral=lordbutterfly
  • To confirm you want to participate in the contest you must write here in the comments: "LFG!"
    We will then know to count your referrals. 😉
  • We will only count onboarded musicians. They have to have VISIBLE singing talent or play an instrument/DJ.
    Lordbutterfly can sing. Lordbutterfly doesnt have a visible singing talent. 😞
  • The new users need to make 1 Vibes entry.

If this works out for Vibes we will continue doing it, probably increase the rewards as well.

What a great idea and such huge prizes to be won.

Not sure if I will be able to enter this- I don't actually know that many muso's these day...and can't play an instrument myself and don't sing that well these days either I'm afraid! (specially since I don't drink anymore...🤣)

But I have been growing a huge onboarding idea all night...

what if we make old accounts to reactivate? @lordbutterfly i've onboarded many artist to hive but they're unactive yet they had their wallets already, what if they are vocal about them reconnecting to hive trough us participating in the initiative?

We could try that. But you would need to list them yourself in the response to this comment and they would need to make it clear in their post.
With referrals I can track it, with reactivating old accounts its harder.

Is there another way to get our own ecency referral link? When I click the link you've share, I cannot change from lordbutterfly, and when I input my username 'sunsethunter' it states that has already been used as I have already logged into ecency. Or, should I use a different username for this? Cheers :)

Thank you! Found it! May I ask why we refer people to ecency rather than direct to hive? Apologies for not being up to date with all the the platforms as I just use hive and 3speak, but definitely want to have more input and help us all grow! I know heaps of musicians

Yeah that is what I am wondering @obaro , I only ever use 3speak and Hive, not ecency or Peakd. I see that they are all linked together, I just don't understand the differences or reasons for all the platforms.
When I signed up, it was just Hive

Why are we sending people to ecency to sign up rather than signing up to Hive?

Essentially, is it all just the same thing, including platforms such as Peakd and 3speak - when I joined Hive there was only Hive, or at least it's all I've ever used.
Is the ecency link purely to count how many we have onboarded?

Sorry for all the questions, I am preparing a video and want to get the instructions and details clear (for myself mostly, but of course to pass on)

All of these dapps are on Hive. I think you mean hive.blog. Hiveblog is exactly the same thing as peakd or ecency. Its just different designs and slightly different ways they work.

But its all on Hive. When they go to signup to Ecency they get a Hive account and are on Hive.
The reason for using ecency is because its by far the simplest way of creating a Hive account and I can track referrals there.

@lordbutterfly I have a doubt, since I have seen vibes musicians posting on Twitter. Is it necessary for the musicians who come to the contest to have a twitter account?

Yes, it is necessary. Alternatively Instagram or TikTok works.

I'm pretty active in the music scene (by feeding the musos at festivals and events) for the last 15 years or so... and been trying to find a way to onboard them for some time now... and the #VIBES contest seems like the perfect incentive.

Quick Question: Do we have to use the Ecency referral? I have enough credits to create about 400 accounts, and together with @BaasDeBeer (he runs a weekly open mic evening), we are thinking of doing all the filming, uploading & posts etc. FOR these musos (on their own accounts obvs).

We've got plans to create a community (specifically South African musos), and using that community for other/extra promos (onboarding IRL sponsors etc.)

OK, that wasn't a "quick question"... so in short: Do we have to use the ecency referral to create accounts for the onboarded musos?

I mean, just like I said above to someone asking a similar question, you can use your account credits although, I dont see why you would want to considering Ecency gives them a free account and logs them in with 1 click.

If you want to use your credits you need to respond with every name you onboard that enters Vibes below this comment so I can count them manually.

Yeah, I hear you... but just in the beginning. We're planning workshops to "hand-hold" these musos through the process (and eventually manage it, and other marketing, themselves)... but from past experience users will do 1 or 2 HIVE posts, get frustrated (uploading pics & vids is seamless on FB for example) and then fizzle out... although we're hoping Ecency mobile app having come leaps and bounds over time will make it more sustainable this time round ;-).

The plan/hope is that we manually do everything for the 1st 5 or 10 musos, and then the rest will see "how cool" it is, and follow suit.

P.S. re the tracking... these prizes were just a bonus/cherry on top and was curious ;-)

Dont get me started. I lost hundreds of musicians when I started Vibes due to this stuff.
Like climbing a mountain with a smaller mountain on my back.

If you want to do it this way, thats completely fine. Just have them mention in the Vibes entry that you onboarded them and you just write their name here in the comment section.
