Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow - LOH Contest #162

Yesterday

I have a curious mind and a vivid imagination, and as a young girl, loved reading about archaeology and was enthralled by the findings in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt.
Imagine the wonder of the moment when they discovered the Tomb of Tutankhamun!
How did the people of those ancient times live? How did they build those pyramids?

Looking at ancient architecture, where buildings are still intact, I find myself imagining the pomp and ceremony when out in the public eye, but what went on behind those walls?

Seeing many of the derelict buildings that Hive's Urban Explorer @slobberchops sorry for the tag but I do not want you to think I'm talking behind your back is brave enough to venture into, leaves me feeling kind of sad - imagine that those abandoned buildings once were thriving with life. Whatever happened?

So yes, I would like to be able to step back into the past with all its struggles and triumphs, and see what happened - why did some fail, and others thrive? Maybe there would be lessons learnt there.

Today

Dealing with the loss of the love of my life has been the worst thing I have ever had to do.
I am taking things day by day, sometimes moment by moment, as the reality is almost impossible to grasp and accept!

Enough said about today.

Tomorrow

Do I really want to know what the future holds?

When I was young and starry-eyed, or shall I say, the girl with the rose-tinted glasses, my answer would have been a definite yes!

Looking back at some of the tragedies I've faced throughout my life, I would have taken fright, perhaps run to the hills and lived like a hermit, or become a nun, hidden away from the world. but then I would have also missed out on experiencing some amazing moments in time, true happiness, and a fulfilled life. I certainly can say with my head held high, that I have made the best of what life dealt me thus far.

If I were to write a book about all the mishaps and all the triumphs, you would think I was telling a tale - the worst were the losses of close family - one to suicide, another to murder, and two sudden and very untimely deaths.

Had I known about these losses I for sure would not have believed I could ever cope, but somehow one finds the strength that lies deep within each of us.

The only thing I would have wanted to know was that I only had one day left to see my darling man. There were so many unsaid things, so many questions, I would have sat at his bed till they chased me out, but it was not to be.

Overall though, my answer would be - no, I do not want to know what the future holds; let it be a surprise!

Finally...

I often yearn for a time machine to fast-forward through difficult times, and rewind to relive special moments. While this is a mere wild dream, it would be very helpful to understand the lessons learnt during trying times and relive the joy found in precious memories.

I cannot say I will embrace the present without the love of my life by my side, but I am hopeful that the future will give me some sense of peace as I learn to fly solo!

This has been my response to this week's
Ladies of Hive Community Contest #162
, and the questions posed by @tibaire, are:

1️⃣ Do you believe in lifelong fidelity?
~ 𝐀𝐍𝐃 / 𝐎𝐑 ~
2️⃣ Which would you prefer: to be able to see the future or to be able to see the past?

I'm watching a movie about time and a man who wants to do things faster and loses his life, because he goes on automatic.

That sounds quite scary, like getting to the point of no return! I think we have to be careful what we wish for not so.

So many things affect a life, books, people and loved ones. Places/times we lived through, connected in a way no one could alter, this makes your time machine skipping the rough times sound good!
